While we are all focused on the Tuesday Presidential Primary elections, our California Nanny State Politically Correct Legislature is busy passing new laws to regulate how we live and even how we give our money to charity.

Pending before the State Senate is AB 624 (it passed the Assembly last week).  If it becomes law, AB 624 would require all charitable foundations to report to the state and public the composition of its board of directors, its staff and those contractors / companies it does business with by race and sexual orientation.  The foundation must also report on the organizations it makes grants or monetary gifts to on their board's composition by race and sexual orientation. 

This bill is repugnant to the rights of freedom of speech, freedom of religion and free enterprise.  A person or company that forms a charitable foundation should not have to report to the state who they have on their board, their staff, who they do business with or who they give their monies to by their race or sexual orientation.  They should not have the state government looking over their shoulder at what they are doing with their hard earned money.  This bill is nothing short of an invasion of privacy and censorship.  It will discourage people from setting up charitable foundations to help those less fortunate.  Further, there is no logical reason for this type of regulation except as a forerunner for the imposition of government mandated quotas.

I find it ironic that while certain lawmakers wish us to stay out of their bedrooms, they also wish to push their way into ours.  They wish us to give them complete freedom but want to control our lives, even if the net result is to decrease the help charitable minded people can or will do for the less fortunate.
