How the MSU Despises Jewish Culture
Posted by: Jonathan Constantine | 05/13/2008 8:29 AM
I don't normally post articles from members of the Muslim Student Union, but this op-ed in New University by Mariam Moustafa deserves some negative attention. Read and notice her shrill and intolerant tone towards Jews. This yet another example of how the MSU is a bigoted organization that does not spark legitimate debate about Israel's policies, but despises and nit picks any cultural nuance of Jewish life in the Middle East:
Palestinian Plight Puts a Pall on the Party

Volume 41, Issue 28 | May 12 2008
Happy birthday, Israel! You turn 60 years-old this week and my, have you grown! You went from a humble 7 percent to a whopping 88 percent of Palestinian land (including chunks of the West Bank and Gaza, which are now known as occupied Palestinian territories).
Here at UC Irvine, several organizations (such as Hillel) put on iFest, a week-long celebration of your birthday. They had many cultural attractions for students to experience. One of the attractions advertised was henna, which actually dates back to ancient Egypt and India, not Israel.
That's okay, though, because they also had yummy shawarma sandwiches, which, now that I think about it, date back to Turkey and Syria. All right, well, have no fear because they did provide something that actually was from the Israeli culture: hookah! Oh wait, that also traces back to India and was popularized by the spread of the Ottoman Empire. So I guess they couldn't really provide anything authentically "Israeli," but you catch my drift.
Anyways, it was loads of fun, and it was all for you. They wanted to show UCI the jewel of the Middle East by providing an incredible clubbing experience, some mediocre belly dancers and many other moral forms of entertainment ... they are a religious organization, after all.
Now that the big day is almost here, I say that we give Israel a toast. Here's to 60 amazing years of ethnically cleansing the Palestinian people and driving them out of their homes. Here's to 60 years of keeping the 4 million registered Palestinian refugees out of Palestine and denying them the right to return to their homeland.
Here's to 60 years of "accidentally" killing Palestinian children, although you might want to be more careful when you indiscriminately shoot at civilians because the death toll is getting a bit high.
Approximately 1,000 Palestinian children have been killed since 2000. I'm sorry, how inconsiderate of me to dampen the mood; let us continue with the toast. Here's to the 18,000 Palestinian homes you have demolished and to not demolishing a single Israeli home.
Here's to 60 years of having the support of the United States, which continues to veto U.N. resolutions condemning your attacks on Gaza and other issues related to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Here's to 60 years of claiming peace and unity, yet ruthlessly murdering Palestinians and other Arabs in neighboring countries.
Here's to cutting down hundreds upon hundreds of olive trees, many of which had existed in Palestine twice as long as your disgrace of a nation. Lastly, here's to allowing the 4 million Palestinians in Gaza to live well below the poverty line, leading to the starvation of many men, women and children who did nothing wrong but be born under your occupation. Happy birthday, Israel, and thanks for being an incredible example of morality and democracy.

Hoookah and bellydancing are part of the Jewish culture?? yeah right... besides no where in this article does she hint at "despising" the jewish culture. there is something seriously wrong with your comprehension skills. When somebody says one thing, you hear something completely different. f3
Israel is an immigrant country. Just as American culture is formed through a fusion of diverse cultures, Israel is as well. To say that Israelis do not have the right to these cultural influences is to deny them their identity.
Well, unlike the Muslims, at least the Jews aren't guilty of stealing an entire theology and destroying it. Actually, I can go on forever listing the the cultural attributes (Art, Architecture, Engineering, etc.) of Arabs shamelessly stolen from other peoples that they actually credit themselves for inventing. The funny thing is that they still have not improved on many of these things since they have claimed them in the 7th century. They were still using 3rd century BC irrigation technology in Egypt at least as recently as the 1970... they probably still are today.
Actually, let me continue; the whole of Islamic civilization is built upon piracy, pillage and plunder--as appose to the self sustaining agricultural basis of Western Civilization--from the days of the 'Prophet' in Medina... When it comes to stealing things, the Arabs can't be beat; if the Jews did indeed steal all of these things, they must have learned that from the Arabs too.
I agree with Mariam.
Most of the crap that the Hillel was promoting at Hate-Fest, I mean I-Fest were not Israeli or Jewish, but rather Arab, Indian or Turkish.
And Israel did not invent the cell phone. That is one of the biggest lies that Jews tell. The cell phone was invented by Dr. Martin Cooper (not Jewish) a Motorola employee in 1973 in New York City.
No more Jewish lies please.
I'll give you Indian and Turkish, but nothing of the Arabs is original.
Can anyone tell me what the Palestinians have achieved? Aside from suicide bombing and being terrorists?
The Palestinians are a people who embrace victimization. They are suffering because of the governments they elect. It has nothing to do with Israel.
Up to one million people of Jewish origins fled the Middle East between the 1900s-1950s. They were refugees. Muslims began massacring them in their homelands. These people never received reparations and no one hardly hears a peep out of them! Why is that? Because these people moved on with their lives and embrace civilization instead of barbarism.
Israelis took the Negev and made it bloom. Palestinians took Gaza and shoot kassams at Israeli daycares.
There is no such thing as Palestinians; they are Arabs. Palestine was named for the Philistines who were the decedents of raiders from the Aegean that the Israelites fought off. Many of the Arabs there now came from other countries just recently and falsely claim that their families are native to the region; but in any case, no Arabs were their before the Arabian conquests of the 7th century. The Levant was devoid of Muslims at one time you know. It belonged to Christian rulers until it was violently taken from them without just cause.
Good point, Emanuel.
You know, if Jews converted to Islam, Israel would be a non-issue. This isn't a conflict about land and those who believe that are either naive or lying.
Here is a nice little quote from the Hadith that sums up why Islamic culture is so twisted:
Book 041, Number 6985-
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.

You must remember Alum... thats only an ATTEMPTED translation, you must know the proper medieval Arabic dialect in order to quote Muslim texts accurately lest you take it all out of context.
First of all, Nazi 007, I believe you have veered off topic....
Second, the verse in Deuteronomy is Yahweh's instructions to the Israelites, specifically for their conquest of Canaan after the 40 year wonder in the desert which would have been around 3200 years ago. It does not instruct the reader in real time to do terrible things to people like the passages in SOME books that I know.
The verse in 2 Chronicles is about an event that would have happened 2900 years ago after Israel recovered from anarchy and civil war, when vows to Yahweh were renewed. Both instances were pre-exilic.
Judaism has seen much development since the 6th century BC. The Tanakh canon was assembled in 450 BC, I think less than 100 years after the return from Babylon. During the post-exilic period, the Jews had developed the moral ethic seen in many of Christ's teachings. The Jewish faith has seen intellects such as Ben Sura, Philo, Hillel, Yochanan Ben Zachai, Akiva, who began the organization of the Talmud, Maimonides and many other medieval Rabbis.
My point is that the Jewish scriptures were not compiled within a 20 year period by a couple of bedouin warriors, and that the modern Jewish ethic is by no means reflected only in the books of the Tanakh, much of which is mere historical archiving over several centuries. Just look at the name of the book Chronicles, what does that mean?
The problem with many people is that they get into the habit of thinking that all religious traditions are more or less equal; One can't have an intellectual religious debate under such terms.
I agree it is a fallacy to believe that all religions are equal.
Compare the violent, and brutal religion of Judaism with that of peaceful Buddhism.
"JewKiller 007 said: Compare the violent, and brutal religion of Judaism with that of peaceful Buddhism."
Ya know, you're so right! Why, just the other day, Radical Jewish folks bombed peaceful Indians over the Province of Jammu-Kashmir. Meanwhile, Radical Jewish Groups backed by the Jewish State of Iranistein killed and slaughtered innocent Lebanese Sunnis in order to allow Iranistein to hold sway over Beirut...
I'd like to invite everyone here to come over to Mecca, because we're going to honor-kill my younger sister; she went out on a date with a filthy pig named "Jewkiller 007". His name is obviously just to distract from the fact that he's a Yeshiva Student at Merkaz HaRav in Jerusalem.
Regarding the question of what Palestinians have achieved:
Maybe you should ask yourself WHY they haven't achieved anything. It is because they live in refugee camps and are suffering from occupation.
Fenrirf,
May I ask a serious question-and I am not an expert on this, so I would welcome your response.
Where are the Palestinian refugee camps located? Are they under Israeli control?
If they are located in other countries, why is it that these Arab countries keep them there, rather than let them start a new life in those nations, perhaps even assimilate into the local population-at least until and if the day arrives that they can go back to what you call Palestine?
Don't countries like Egypt, Syria, Saudi Arabia etc, prefer to keep Palestinians in misery so as to keep the issue alive-and divert attention from their own dictatorial, corrupt governments?
As I said, I am no expert here, so I look forward to your response.
No, it's because they waste their time complaining, blaming Jews for everything, and failing to give a shit.
The term "Jewish Culture" is an oxymoron.
Jews have no real culture; just a composite of what they stole from others.
Like Jews stealing the Holy Land from the Arabs. Since that was not enough they decided to steal the falafel, hookah, shawarma, etc.
Or the way Jews claim to have invented "Democracy", which was actually created by the Hellenic Greeks.
Judaism is a mental disorder.
I see X has run out of ideas. Now he is cutting and pasting his previous messages. I am still waiting for him to explain to me how supposed "religious" leaders can be so filled with hate. Still working on it I guess. Of course, he could always cut and paste his previous "Suck it" comment.
This job is too easy.
Well considering that the pinnacle of your life Gary Fouse is being a part-time ESL instructor, I dont take much offense.
Now Im not sure whether Al-Asi is a muslim religious leader (imam), or whether he is actually spewing hate speech.
It is very common for people to label things they dont agree with as "hateful" or "evil", so its very possible that Mr. Al-Asi was stating very legitimate arguments against Israel that your perceived as being hateful towards Israel/Jews.
Jews in particular, are notoriously well known for labeling anything they dont agree with as being "anti-semitic" (rather weird since most Jews are white and not middle-eastern).
Simply put its like the boy who cried wolf. If you play the "hate card" soo many times, soon eventually people will ignore it all together.
"rather weird since most Jews are white and not middle-eastern"
You are really an idiot. Do you know how many Jews lived in countries like Iran, Lebanon, Iraq and Jordan for hundreds if not thousands of years (even before those countries were established)? Lots of them. You can be any religion and be Middle Eastern...although if you aren't Muslim you don't have much of a future there. What a stupid and ignorant moron you are.
Sir the only thing worse than an idiot, is an idiot who calls others idiots.
Demographics of Jews:
Total Number: 13 - 14 million
Ashkenazi Jews (Jews of German descent): 8 - 11.2 million
Sephardic Jews (Jews of Spanish descent): 1.5 - 2 million
Mizrahi Jews (Jews of Mid-Eastern descent): 2 million
Source: Jewish Virtual Library
As you can see European Jews outnumber Mid-Eastern Jews by more than 6 to 1.
If we were to make a generalization about the Jews then statistically Jews are a European people, not a Semitic people.
Jews lie. Facts dont.
X marks the spot:
Denigrating someone for what they do for a living, especially a teacher? Well, Welcome to the world of the self absorbed. What have you done worth while with your life? Found the cure for cancer? Finger paint that ugly termite filled hate wall with your MSU brothers is more like it. Anyone who devoted his time to educate others to better themselves in this world deserves very high praise. Your parents should have bought you up better. And what did they to in the "old country"? Evidently not well enough to stay there and keep the likes of ingrates like with them.
To X marks the spot,
Sir, the pinnacle of my life is not being a part-time ESL instructor. It is the twilight of my life.
I am retired from the Drug Enforcement Administration, in which I spent 25 years of my life. I live in LA, Pittsburgh, Bangkok, Italy and Washington DC.
Prior to that, I spent three years in the US Army in Germany.
I do this as a part-time job since I am semi-retired. I am no PHD and I do not consider myself an academic.
I am anxious to hear your resume.
Has anyone heard from Fenrirf?
A couple of days ago, I posed some honest questions to him about the Middle East situation. No response as yet.
