More amusing and equally disturbing is the selection of resident thug Ilgiz Khisamov (pictured above) as Political Activism Coordinator. Apparently the "brothers" and "sisters" were impressed how he threatened a camera man during their genocidal rally last May. In any case, if I were FBI I'd be tailing him for his threatening and apocalyptic comments on this blog. To his credit-despite lacking a definitive command of the English language-Ilgiz has carved an apparent niche for himself in the vocation of death poetry. The titles of some of the lectures at the event -- "Death to Apartheid: A Farewell to Zionism" and "Silence is Consent: Stop the Palestinian Holocaust" -- are also disturbing. And, the guests invited to give these lectures have a record of making anti-Semitic statements. As is observable on YouTube, one of the lecturers,...
Q. Some Jewish people have described UCI as "the most anti-Semitic campus in America." You are Jewish. What do you think about that?
A. This is something I looked at very closely. I think it's a misapprehension. There was a letter written by students at several Jewish organizations on campus talking about the wonderful Jewish student life here. As a Jew, I have never seen the slightest evidence of anti-Semitism on campus.
There have been some speeches on campus against Israel that crossed over into anti-Semitic speech. But a university has to be a forum for all ideas, even if we don't agree with them.
Q. If your children were raised Jewish, would you send them to UCI?
A. My children have been raised Jewish; there's a picture of my son's recent bar mitzvah right there...

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT INITIATES NEW INVESTIGATION INTO UC IRVINE'S RESPONSE TO CAMPUS ANTI-SEMITISM
By letter to the Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) dated April 25, 2008, the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has indicated that it will be investigating several incidents of alleged anti-Semitic harassment, intimidation and discrimination that occurred in May 2007, at the University of California, Irvine (UCI). The ZOA had brought these incidents to OCR's attention almost one year ago, asserting that the incidents show that UCI has continued to respond ineffectively to campus anti-Semitism, in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (Title VI). Title VI requires that recipients of federal funding (like UCI) ensure that their programs and activities are free discrimination based on "race, color, or national origin." If the recipient is found to have violated Title VI, it can lose its federal funding.
The ZOA first brought UCI's alleged violation of Title VI to OCR's attention in October 2004, when the ZOA filed a Title VI complaint on behalf of Jewish...
UC Irvine or UC Intifada? By Reut Cohen
My PJM article on the frightening situation at my alma mater was not meant to create fear and hatred where there is none. Faculty members who claim that the administration is taking the appropriate action against the radical Muslim Student Union need to get out of their offices more.
Bruce Blumberg, who is the Chair of the Academic Senate Council on Student Experience at the University of California-Irvine, wasn't happy about a recent PJM article I co-wrote with Jonathan Movroydis. In the piece, we make the claim that UCI administrators have capitulated to the university's radical Muslim Student Union (MSU), whose members regularly voice support for terrorist groups and denounce America and Israel.
In an email posted by Jerry Pournelle,...
I Chose Against University of California Irvine Because of Hate Speech
Spencer Morgan June 2nd 2008
Poughkeepsie, NY
I am a student in college and have been hearing many stories about Israel and America on the campus that make my skin crawl.
I was accepted to University California Irvine, but decided against it. I heard Allyson Rowen Taylor speak at a Chabad event and she discussed the issues on the campus to a room filled with parents who had no idea what was going on in the public arena. After reading about UCI online, and speaking with others who have seen the campus antics, I decided to go elsewhere, not only for reasons of the intense hatred of...

The Most Muslim University in America
By Reut R. Cohen and Jonathan Constantine
FrontPageMagazine.com | Tuesday, June 03, 2008
At the University of California, Irvine the Muslim Student Union (MSU), a virulently anti-Semitic and anti-American student group, holds several programs which unabashedly support terrorist groups and unjustly denounce Israel, America, and the Western world. MSU events have featured speakers like Norman Finkelstein, Ward Churchill, Muhammad al-Asi and Amir Abdel Malik Ali, and have had titles such as "Hamas: the People's Choice" and "Israel: The 4th Reich."
On May 12, 2008 the Muslim Student Union invited Muhammad al-Asi to speak on the main part of the campus in front of the flag poles. Al-Asi has spoken at UC Irvine before, and his speeches are usually riddled with stereotypical tirades on Jews and unrepentant affirmations of terrorist acts on American and Israel.
Out of all the MSU's speakers, al-Asi has the most lurid personal history. A former Air Force Officer, al-Asi became radicalized by the 1979 Iranian Revolution, and is an avid admirer of the late Ayatollah...
In a strongly worded letter, U.S. Rep. Brad Sherman (D-CA) called on the Chancellor of the University of California, Irvine (UCI), to condemn rampant anti-Semitism at events organized and sponsored by its Muslim Student Union (MSU). The letter pointed out that such an event held just weeks ago, appeared "intended to encourage violence against the State of Israel and propagate the spread of anti-Semitism."
MSU events routinely feature anti-Semitic and pro-terror figures, notably Washington D.C.-based radical cleric Mohammed al-Asi and Oakland-based Amir Abdel Malik Ali, an African-American convert born Derek Gilliam. Both are known for their high level of vitriol, hatred and support for suicide bombings. The latest event, which took place from May 7th to May 15th, was called "Never Again? The Palestinian Holocaust."
In his letter, Rep. Sherman explained that, "Comparing current Israeli policies to the Holocaust, the...
Hate on Campus
A California Campus Event Intended to Encourage Violence and Spread Hate
May 26th 2008
Rep. Brad Sherman
House of Representatives
In mid-May, I wrote a letter to Chancellor Michael Drake expressing my concern with the University of California at Irvine's (UCI) Muslim Student Union's campus event entitled "Never Again? The Palestinian Holocaust," which was held on the campus from May 7th to May 15th. This event appears to have intended to encourage violence against the State of Israel and propagate the spread of anti-Semitism.
The title of the event itself is particularly inflammatory. Comparing current Israeli policies to the Holocaust, the systematic murder of the Jewish people of Europe, is clearly anti-Semitic. It wholly demeans the Jewish victims of the Holocaust and vilifies the Jewish citizens of...
The week before last, UC-Irvine's Muslim Student Union (MSU) hosted one of their quarterly anti-Israel weeks featuring a parade of speakers, some of whom are not only anti-Israel, but anti-America and anti-Jew as well.
UC Irvine Still Enforcing Sharia Law
Administrators are either clueless about radical Islam's foothold on campus or determined to create an environment in which it can thrive. Take your pick.
May 22, 2008
The University of California-Irvine is a sprawling campus in Orange County. The institution, located between the Santa Ana Mountains and the shore of the Pacific Ocean, is not only home to some of the best minds in science and engineering, but also to some of the most virulent supporters of radical Islam in America -- and a school administration bent on capitulating to them.
The university's Muslim Student Union (MSU) holds several annual events, at which members unashamedly voice support for terrorist groups and denounce Israel, America, and the Western world. Past events hosted during the group's annual anti-Israel week have had titles such as "Hamas: the People's Choice" and "Israel: The 4th Reich." Speakers have included Norman Finkelstein, Ward Churchill, and Anna Balzter.
This year, from May 7-15, the MSU hosted a series...
MSU Event Misses 'Awareness'
by Aaron Elias
Volume 41, Issue 29 | May 19 2008
Let's clear up one misconception right now: Whatever the Muslim Student Union wanted to call last week's event, it was not "Palestine Awareness Week." I learned nothing of the culture of Palestinians, and what I learned of their history only had to do with Israel. It was more like "victimize Palestine and make Israel look evil" week. I must admit that the MSU did an outstanding job of victimizing the Palestinians and making them look helpless, even if it was a false representation. Bravo.
Until last week, I didn't realize the MSU was so hostile. The inconsistency of its arguments is amazingly narrow-minded and devoid of vital factual and historical information. It only presents one side of the situation and completely disregards the other side. The week's theme, "The Palestinian Holocaust," is hardly credible. Hamas and Hezbollah explicitly call for the annihilation of Israel and the Jews. Meanwhile,...
This week, a well-meaning correspondent who shares my concern about the hate speech being spouted at UC-Irvine suggested that I send my views to Rusty Kennedy, the director of the Orange County Human Relations Commission (OCHRC). Not knowing anything about Mr Kennedy or the the OCHRC, I went ahead and sent Mr Kennedy an email expressing my concern about the anti-Semitism at UCI during Muslim Student Union events and my disappointment at the failure of the UCI Administration to confront this filth. To say the least, his response was disappointing. It was also nasty.
Here is my original email to Mr Kennedy:
Dear Mr Kennedy,
My name is Gary Fouse, and I am an adjunct teacher at UCI-Ext (ESL).
I have been in that position since 1998 (subsequent to my retirement
from the Drug Enforcement Administration. I am writing to you per
the suggestion of Dr Brian Levin, CSUSB to give you my perspective
as a teacher at UCI regarding the quarterly events hosted by the
Muslim Student Union on our campus.

In a conversation earlier tonight, New University writer Paul Backus offered me a sincere apology for allowing Marya Bangee's misstatements to remain unchallenged. He told me that he was operating on a very short deadline and regrets that he didn't contact me for my side of the story.
According to Backus, the paper's editors re-described the incident as "harassment" despite the fact his original copy was written otherwise. He said a correction was forthcoming as he had just contacted his editors.
Backus stated unequivocally: "The word harassment should not have been used in the article."
It's unfortunate that the editors of a campus newspaper would play thought police and meddle with a student's journalistic integrity. But more unfortunate is the criminalization of student journalists by administrators effectively enforcing directives on behalf of the Muslim Student Union, and further attempts to prohibit who, what, and where they document in public.
Paul Backus deserves credit for his honesty and integrity.
On Thursday May15, 2008 I went to the UCI campus to hear a talk: Death to Apartheid, A Farewell to Zionism. Since much of my life was spent fighting the apartheid system in my native country of South Africa, I was interested to hear speakers who probably had not personally lived through that time. I noticed that there were many people filming the speaker's presentation. Afterwards, I walked to my car in the university underground parking. I noticed a young woman standing backed up against her car. She was surrounded by at least...
I witnessed MSU thuggish actions firsthand when a male individual who was filming the hateful procession had at least three Muslim males charge at him for daring to film as the females from the group walked past. One of the males, a student named Yasser Ahmed (pictured above) who purportedly threw a cinderblock at an FBI vehicle during May 2007, said to him: "You wanna get jacked! We can go get jacked right now! C'mon...
Our non-Muslim friends they got you all thinking that this Islamic revival is something that you should fear. That's propaganda!
This "passion play" used was created to incite hatred against Jews and Israelis. This dramatic presentation of Jewish cruelty is in my opinion anti-semitic. It shows the helpless and powerless at the mercy of cruel Jewish villains. While one may choose to see this film in "objective" light - its only a protest Rabbi Yonah to raise awareness of the conflict - I cannot help but view this as part of the continuum of anti-semitism. In fact, the passion plays of the middle ages are very similar in content - showing a powerless Jesus victimized and killed by the Jews. The point of those passion plays was to inflame anger against Jews, and burn the image of the suffering Jesus into the minds of the public. The...
Now that the Israel 60th Birthday celebration and the "Palestinian Holocaust" week have concluded, I would like to make a few brief comments. I have commented in the past on the words of Amir Abdel Malik Ali and Mohammed Al-Asi, so I won't repeat them here.
I would hope, however, that casual student observers will compare and contrast the tone of each week. The Israeli celebration was upbeat and happy, while some of the MSU's speakers (not all) used inflammatory language to describe Israel and America. At least three of the speakers (Malik Ali, Al-Asi and Norman Finklestein are vocal supporters of Hamas and Hizbollah-terrorist organizations.
There were two items on the "Wall" put up by the MSU that drew my attention. First was a quotation from former Black Panther, H. Rap Brown (who now bears a Muslim name that...
Israeli Miracle
The crime is not its policies but its insistence on living.
By Charles Krauthammer
Before sending Lewis and Clark west, Thomas Jefferson dispatched Meriwether Lewis to Philadelphia to see Dr. Benjamin Rush. The eminent doctor prepared a series of scientific questions for the expedition to answer. Among them, writes Stephen Ambrose: "What Affinity between their (the Indians') religious Ceremonies & those of the Jews?" Jefferson and Lewis, like many of their day and ours, were fascinated by the Ten Lost Tribes of Israel, and thought they might be out there on the Great Plains.
They weren't. They aren't anywhere. Their disappearance into the mists of history since their exile from Israel in 722 B.C. is no mystery. It is the norm, the rule for every ancient people defeated, destroyed, scattered, and exiled.
With one exception, a miraculous story of redemption and return, after not a century or two, but 2,000 years. Remarkably, that miracle occurred in our time. This week marks its 60th anniversary: the return and...
On the final day of the Muslim Student Union's "Palestinian Holocaust Week" at UC-Irvine, the highlight of today's program was the speech by Amir Abdel Malik Ali, a fiery Imam from Oakland, who comes to UCI every quarter. He is an open supporter of Hamas and Hizbollah and anti-American to boot.
Malik Ali is the classic example of the adage: "Show me a great speaker, and I will show you-a great speaker". He is a magnificent public speaker. It is what he says that is objectionable. In past appearances at UCI, he has described suicide bombers, as heroes and martyrs, and railed about "Zionist Jews". Today, he took pains to state that many Jews oppose Zionism. (Thanks a lot.) Yet, his hour-long speech was all vitriol toward Israel-and toward America. Imperialistic America. He referred to President Bush as "an idiot" on numerous occasions. He referred to an unnamed African-American general (head of US forces in Africa) as an "Uncle Tom".
A few of the Jewish students vocally expressed their disagreement with Ali on some occasions, but never tried to shut him...
I want to specifically target Amnesty International because an organization like that should never be involved in an event like this. They are not aware of what is going on, or they do not care. Please, go to Amnesty International and tell then what you think. Link to this diary. Explain to them that their money is going to support anti-Semitism at my college campus. Tell them that they will get our donations no longer unless they stop funding MSU's events and repudiate their naked and disgusting anti-Semitism.
Please visit http://www.amnesty.org/...
Again: http://www.amnesty.org/...
Email your friends about this and tell them about this issue. I used to love Amnesty International and it is a disgrace that they have sunk to the level of funding hate speech. We must hold their feet to the fire and get some accountability.
Feel free to comment and give attention to a diary that isn't about...
Wall splits students
A mock version of Israeli security wall sponsored by Muslim Student Union draws attention to students at UCI. The wall is intended to inform community and students about Palestinian situation.
Mock security wall protests Israel's policies. Official laments lack of dialogue among Muslim, Jewish student groups.
By Daniel Tedford
Updated: Thursday, May 15, 2008 3:41 PM PDT
Students walking through the middle of UCI's campus this week will witness free speech at work. Various groups -- pro-Israel, pro-Zionist, pro-Palestinian and others -- are inviting speakers and staging rallies to portray their own version of truth, their opinion on the conflict happening within Israel as two cultures continue to clash.
And standing at the middle of these protests is a wall, a replica of the one that borders Israel and...
SOUNDING OFF:
Nakba week only a hatefest by UCI's Muslim students

On May 7-15, the UCI Muslim Students' Union Assn. staged a weeklong "Nakba" event that, under the guise of commemorating the "catastrophe" of the founding of the Jewish state, brought to campus the genocidal philosophy promoted by leaders and movements throughout the Middle East.
It is one thing for such toxic ideas to be conceived in the clandestine meeting places of international terror organizations, but quite another for them to be promoted in the campus offices of recognized student groups.
How destructive is the agenda of "Nakba" week? Consider the roster of speakers the MSU assembled:
•Norman Finkelstein, who demeans the Holocaust as an "industry" and is so extreme in his hatred of Israel that he is scorned by true scholars and denied tenure by his university department.
•Mohammed al Asi, who spreads the lunatic notion that 9/11 was caused by Mossad and CIA agents who infiltrated "Islamic combatant groups."
The "Nakba" at UC Irvine

The UC Irvine Muslim Students' Union Association is currently staging a week long "Nakba" event (May 7-15) which, under the guise of commemorating the "catastrophe" of the founding of the Jewish state, will bring onto campus the genocidal philosophy being promoted by leaders and movements throughout the Middle East.
This preparation for genocide makes headlines every day in the world press. Rejecting the international community's call for negotiation and statecraft, Iran's Ahmadinejad, Hizbollah's Nasrallah, and various spokesmen of Hamas instead prepare for the obliteration of Israel. From the goose-stepping soldiers of Hizbollah, Syria and Iran to the broadcasts of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion on al-Jazeera and Egyptian TV, homage is paid to the Nazi past by radicals throughout the Muslim world. In their sermons and public proclamations...
To the Muslim Student Union at UC Irvine:
As Israel was celebrating its 60th anniversary this past week, many in the Islamic world have stepped up calls for the peaceful nation's destruction. Iran president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called Israel a "stinking corpse" on its way to "annihilation." Osama Bin Laden also weighed in boasting that the terror attacks of September 11, 2001 was an act on behalf of the Palestinian people. Bin Laden exclaimed that he would vow to continue this struggle against Israel and its allies.
It was evident that your speakers last week shared similar sentiments.
On Monday, Muhammad al-Asi gave the ominous claim: "as the years go by you are going to feel more cornered in the nation state ghetto you constructed."
On Thursday, Amir Abdel Malik-Ali praised terror groups Hamas and Hezbollah as "freedom fighters," and boasted about the ensuing death of Israel and its American allies.
By signing this petition you have a chance to dissociate yourself from the genocidal statements of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Osama bin-Laden, as well as the echoing sentiments of last week's...
From the LA Times Website:
CAIRO -- Osama bin Laden vowed Friday to fight on behalf of the Palestinians, claiming their cause is at the heart of Al Qaeda's holy war with the West.
Bin Laden's audio statement was released to coincide with Israel's 60th anniversary and as President Bush was wrapping up his visit there.
"We will continue our struggle against the Israelis and their allies," Bin Laden said in the 10-minute audio posted on a website used frequently by Al Qaeda. "We are not going to give up an inch of the land of Palestine."
Al Qaeda is increasingly using the Israeli-Arab conflict in its media campaign, but is not believed to have taken a strong role there so far.
Bin Laden said the Palestinian cause was the most important factor driving Al Qaeda's war with the West and claimed it was the motivation for the...
Today, the Muslim Student Union continued their "Palestinian Holocaust" Week at UCI. Today's featured speaker at noon was Anna Balzer, a young Jewish-American activist, who has traveled often to Israel and the Palestinian-occupied territories. She is a Palestinian sympathizer, and is associated with the International Women's Peace Service.
I should state that Ms Balzer does not come across as a "bomb thrower" (no pun intended.) Her presentation argued that Palestinians are being treated unjustly by Israel in the name of maintaining a Jewish state. She did not blast the United States, unlike many of the other MSU speakers. She is opposed to Israel as a "Jewish state".
Academic fraud isn't the only problem with the MSU at UC Irvine. When the MSU isn't showcasing disgraced academics like Ilan Pappe or Norman Finkelstein, they offer the podium to young so called civil rights activists, who double shift as terror sympathizers. Anna Baltzer is no exception.
Watch the video, disturbingly amusing (and perplexing) are her answers regarding the boycott of products and services supportive of Israel. See what you can make out of her explanation regarding the sacrifice of text messaging and the applause line that follows:
In the next video, Baltzer compares the Palestinian issue to the 1960's Civil Rights movement:
And don't be fooled by her supposed advocacy of a peaceful Palestinian resistance. In a recent blog post, she compared the employment of terror tactics as a necessity that will be judged more favorably once the jihadists establish political legitimacy. After all she argues ,even Martin Luther King, Jr. was viewed as a radical in his time:
Some...
"The deterioration in discourse nationally and what we see in some of these speakers is not conducive," said UCI Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Manuel Gomez. "It is just rhetoric coming back and forth at each other. My hope would be to get authentic dialogues going with discussion revolving around differences, not to agreement, but to understand different perspectives."
