Protecting the rights of Georgia voters.

Voters rights have been a bit of a hot button issue recently. The state is still under fire for the creation of a 2007 law, under the requirements of the federal Help America Vote Act. The law is set up to ensure that only American citizens vote in American elections. Sounds simple, right? Non- Americans being allowed to vote in America's elections is not only impractical and illegal- it would allow foreign interference in our elections. T he Federal Government wants states to was verify a voter’s identity at the time of registration, but not necessarily citizenship. The Justice Department said such verification was "discretionary on the state’s part." Georgia added this validation as part of it's voter registration process. One would think that such verification would be common sense- at least to conservatives. However, to liberals, this was an opportunity to garner votes amongst Latinos. The left ran to the Justice Department, and Georgia has been ordered to stop validating citizenship. Georgia Secretary of State Karen Handel’s office is said to be considering options, including suing the Justice Department in federal court. In a Monday Morning Twitter tweet, Handel was direct: "If they think that we’re not going to fight for this, they’re wrong." I'd like to thank Ms. Handel for fighting the good fight, and protecting the rights of those who are legally allowed to vote. We will be watching this story closely. P.S. This is one more reason that Georgians that voted for Obama should officially feel shamed. It's one more occasion in which the Obama led federal government has ignored your rights in order to garner approval with a voter demographic. In this case the demographic would be illegal voters.
