AD72 Special Election Watch: Fun With Numbers

By Adam D. Probolsky | 10/26/09

If the election for AD 72 wasn't such serious business the results of the "Independent" poll released by direct mail guru Jim Lacy, would be funny. I posted an in-depth analysis on the Flash Report blog but the poll just doesn't have much relevance in the Nov. 17 election. The poll, which was not conducted by a pollster, but rather contracted for by Lacy and fielded by a Utah call center, surveyed only... read more »

Parking Czar For Irvine?

By Adam D. Probolsky | 09/17/09

The Irvine City Council recently voted to give preferential parking rights to some residents. It is an absurd notion and will not solve the problem.  The city council was merely responding to a handful of resident (the angry mob) annoyed with students parking in their neighborhood. Tustin has passed similar policies but looked at going even further--an all-out ban on overnight street parking. Click here for the full column. read more »

By Adam D. Probolsky | 09/14/09

Deputy DA Nick Dourbetas who earlier this summer held a fund raiser at the Balboa Bay Club with some heavy hitters has another event scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17 in Santa Ana (a little closer to the courthouse he would likley work at).  Judge Jim Rogan who served as a U. S. Rep. during the 90s will be the special guest at the campaign kick-off event. Here are the details: Host Committee Ron... read more »

Dep. DA Dourbetas Raises Money For Judge Campaign

By Adam D. Probolsky | 08/04/09

Last Thursday I missed the fund raiser but got intel that about 70 people attended the event at the Balboa Bay Club.  Nick Dourbetas is a deputy DA in Orange County and he is running for the Superior Court seat currently held by Judge Donna Crandall who will be retiring just in time for Nick to file and run in the June 2010 Primary Election. Dourbetas raised over $20,000 at the event which combined with an... read more »

The OC Fair...so much fun

By Adam D. Probolsky | 07/16/09

Every year I write something about the coolness of the Orange County Fair.  I am a fair enthusiast.  It brings all communities, all constituencies in the county together. So far this year I've only been once (to the Duran Duran concert) last weekend.  But I have plans to spend a lot of time there over the course of the month that it's open. My weekly column that appears in the Orange County Register's Irvine World News was... read more »

A move for term limits in Rancho Santa Margarita

By Adam D. Probolsky | 07/06/09

Jesse Petrilla is running for city council in Rancho Santa Margarita in 2010 and today he announced he plans to submit the necessary paperwork to place a term limits initiative on the ballot during his election. Term limits have been a serious disaster for our state government in Sacramento and they offer no positive change in local government.  Petrilla is an ambitious candidate, I respect his action-oriented campaign style.  But his... read more »
