PCWA Update - McClintock tackles local infrastructure issues
By Sgt. York | 01/17/09 | 02:14 PM EDT | 0 Comments
Posted here are some comments from Ben Mavy - they address multiple issues. McClintock is here and connected to the district, he knows our issues and he is making fiscally conservative stances in language people can easily understand.
PCWA Member Ben Mavy Writes:
We had Congressman McClintock up to the agency yesterday, along with representatives from local municipalities and public utilities. McClintock is on fire. Most attendees were there to let Tom know about critical infrastructure projects we're working on or need funding for. Someone asked Tom how the economic stimulus bill was unfolding. He responded that no matter what the bill is called it isn't economic stimulus. For the government to spend a dollar, it first must take that dollar out of the economy. Tom pointed out that infrastructure is the lifeblood of civilization that allows commerce to take place, and he acknowledged that he will be an advocate for us in Washington for infrastructure funding. With his assignment to the Natural Resources Committee he is well positioned to help our area.
One attendee remarked that the occasion was more productive than the annual cap-to-cap trip.
