More On How to Waste a Million Bucks

I have already blogged on how four of our Placer County Supervisors are spending one million dollars, of taxpayers' money, to basically show Bruce Kranz the door (see link here)... now we find their civil court case crumbling before their eyes.
To recap: In 2005, then Planning Director Fred Yeager gave the Placer County District Attorney information alleging Bruce Kranz political appointee Michelle Ollar-Burris violated the State Subdivision Map Act. The DA could find no crime.
In 2006 the same allegations were handed to the DA again, and again the DA could find no crime. Kranz's political opponents shopped the story to a willing Sacramento Bee reporter (link to Bee story here). The Supervisors removed Ollar-Burris from the Planning Commission and hired a special attorney to investigate. A report was filed in 2007 and given to the DA, but again the DA could find on crime.
Instead of leaving the case with the DA, four of our supervisors decided to pursue this in civil court in an attempt to recoup the cost of the crime-- even though the DA cannot find a crime. Already the supervisors have spent almost $500,000 on legal fees, and when they lose the case they will be required to pay Ollar-Burris's legal fees of $500,000. So far the taxpayers are out one million dollars.
The four supervisors have based their whole case on Fred Yeager's initial 2005 allegations. But last week Fred Yeager torpedoed the whole case in sworn testimony. Yeager said he never did find anything wrong with the Ollar-Burris maps he processed and finaled, and he never heard back from the DA that Ollar-Burris had done anything wrong. The reason he stated he sent the Ollar-Burris allegations to the DA was because of the sensitive political nature.
So there you have it-- it was all about politics and getting Bruce Kranz... and destroying the life of a citizen that, apparently, according to the Placer DA, has committed no crime.... all the while spending one million of taxpayers' money.
The question should be asked, why does former Planning Director Fred Yeager and four of the Placer supervisors want Bruce off the Board of Supervisors and TRPA so badly? Why did they want Ollar-Burris off the Planning Commission?
I would like to suggest that one of the reasons could be the socialist utopian idea of government owning all Placer land (PCCP) and Kranz opposed the PCCP (see link here) asking who would pay for the care of the newly acquired county land. In regard to the PCCP, Ollar-Burris has pointed out how the unwilling seller becomes a "willing seller" when the county rezones the land and restricts it's use. No doubt there is more to this taxpayer funded political lynching of Bruce Kranz and Kranz political appointee Ollar-Burris, and I will be glad to explain more in a future post.
