I have no idea how Cal Fire came up with 500 acres burned in Lincoln. We had at least 100 acres burned and Harley had about another 75. It was amazing watching the fire. Flames engulfed our house and traveled toward McCourtney. The flames must have been 30 to 40 feet high and I watched it jump the fire trucks as it went over McCourtney Road. It looked like Harley and Helen Hutchinson’s was history. Oddly enough it burned one of his old houses and went by. When the fire passed we went to check on our house and Harleys and our house was still standing.... but the fire wiped up again and then burned Harleys house and one of our barns. A neighbor went in and as Harleys truck blew up and burned, he pulled the ATV off the trailer behind the truck. They used that ATV to move Harley’s cattle (about 50) down McCourtney to safe pastor. It was quite a sight seeing cows and fire trucks competing for the road as they were fighting the fire.
