Charlie's Angels: Let's hear from Jesus Himself

Blogger's Note: Something never sat well with me about Charlie's grandstanding regarding charitable donations - especially since he is doing it to get attention. It would be another thing if it was disclosed what Charlie's real intentions for doing this were.
As I have asserted for weeks - Charlie is a hard-core anti-war activist and he has the credentials to prove it. I believe that Charlie's "Charitable" actions are to either cover a guilty conscience or to try and decieve the voters about his real motives.
In either event - there is a passage of scripture that applies - especially since Charlie claims faith on his website:
Matthew 6: 1-4
1. Be careful not to parade your uprightness in public to attract attention; otherwise you will lose all reward from your father in heaven. 2 So when you give alms, do not have it trumpeted before you; this is what the hypocrites do in the synagogues (Roseville, Grass Valley et. al.)and in the streets to win human admiration. In truth I tell you, they have had their reward. 3. But when you give alms, your left hand must not know what your right is doing; 4 your almsgiving must be secret, and your Father who sees all that is done in secret will reward you.
Blogger's Endnote: These were the words of Jesus delivering one of many sermons he delivered while on earth. These words are timely and important today, right here in Placer County.

Despicable use of scripture for political purposes. You should be ashamed of yourself.
RE: Charlie Brown campaigning with Wesley Clark today
It's always nice to see someone volunteering to help others, as Charlie Brown is today; the fact that he has brought a high-profile political supporter in and made a media event out of it makes me squirm a bit. Aren't we supposed to do good works quietly?
I'm sure other community leaders have performed countless good acts without making a publicity stunt out of it.
Brown's use of veterans for political purposes is despicable. He should be ashamed of himself.
Bob, Charlie is already dead. Stabbed with a white wench's black eye, run through the ear with a love song, the very pin of his heart cleft with the blind bow-boy's butt shaft.
Hector,
He is himself a veteran along with his wife and active-duty son and since 2005 when he started his journey to Congress Brown has made veteran's issues his pet project. You remember Walter Reed, don't you? How do you think things get done if politicians don't prioritize and focus their efforts? I think it's admirable that he is using the notoriety of his campaign to make a difference. If you don't like how he uses his campaign donations feel free not to donate to his campaign. Give to McClintock's campaign instead so your donation can be used to fund Tom's attendance at wedge-issue events and Minutemen rallies.
I'll agree with you that it's despicable if Charlie is elected and then drops veterans like a hot potato. Odds of that: Zero.
Bob
Ladies and Gentlemen
I was over at Veterans Park North where this event is being set up. I was asked specifically to invite Aaron Park over, "to see real vets" This from a Marine fellow who looks at Red County once in a while. By extension, I think he also includes other folks who do not serve their country but like to intellectualize on the internets about vets who served their country well.
WOW!!! So did that Marine say what he'd do if this Sailor showed up?
Tell me when and where, Lee and I will get back to you shortly.
Bob,
Actually this is a very appropriate use of that Scripture because desiring favorable public notice is just what Charlie says he wants with those donations!
He actually can be condemned twice for this practice: Grandstanding as Aaron rightly points out Jesus has no use for AND for acting like a true liberal by getting credit for "caring" about Veterans with other people's money and not his own!
The whole spectacle is almost as sad as a veteran showing up in his uniform at a rally where they are hanging a Marine in effigy!
John
John,
What branch of the service did you serve in?
Bob
My father served in both the Navy and the Marines. I just missed the Vietnam war so was not called upon to serve.
John
Bob - what province of Canada did you run to?
You are anonymous - therefore anyone can say what they want about you. I can really tell that the Holy Spirit is working on you.
It is too bad that the Wes Clark thing was today - I was slammed in my office, or I'd have gotten my pet rat and met you out in the park.
John,
I just missed the Vietnam War, too...and enlisted anyway and served just over twenty years. PEBD: December 19, 1977.
Park,
That's a nice tactic of yours. It's been very effective. Keep it up.
Bob
