Republicans for Brown start new Website? Republicans against Prop 8
Posted by: Aaron Park | 08/27/2008 1:57 PM
Update - the Site is now live and the names on it are no surprise. The group behind the site - the Log Cabin Republicans, a group of Republicans who have refused to endorse President Bush and have yet to endorse McCain (who supports Prop 8) Like I said, single issue Republicans for Charlie Brown.
The website is not live yet - but the www.republicansagainst8.com website should be going live very soon.
It will be interesting to see who is behind this website - I think Joanne Neft is probably in the middle of this effort. Neft is the chair of the one-person group called Republicans for Brown.
I have not met any Moderate/Liberal Republicans that I know that support Gay Marriage.
Could it be the Log Cabin Republicans? This would be interesting, because polling data from Gay Republicans shows about a 50/50 split in support for Gay Marriage.
Republicans against Marriage are meeting tomorrow - it will be interesting to see who comes out tomorrow.
This is a developing situation... WWCBD?

A newly formed group called Republicans for Brown have hit the scene. The spokes person who wore a ski mask over his/her face gave this back ground.
"It is getting pretty taxing chasing Tom McClintock all over California to get him to speak to us. The final straw was that the next sighting of McClintock is down in Orange County at Ed Royce's BBQ. And he is charging $200 to see him.
He/she walked away muttering, " My daddy always told me, if I want to live like a Republican, I should vote like a Democrat. Daddy, I am so sorry, you always knew best."
Whoops! I hope Jeff and his Schubert & Flint "Yes on 8" crew are on top of the situation!
Yeah, I saw the S&F thing down in Irvine. I am starting to wonder if Placer is a wholly owned subsidiary of SoCal O&V. We better check the deed.
WWCBD?
BTW - Lee, I will make sure to stick up for you regarding Anon attacks.
No such courtesy is extended for Bob as he is king amongst anon cowards.
Aaron,
FU AH. I have said why I choose to remain unknown. Unlike you I have an employer. Despite that I have provided extensive details about who I am. You can choose to believe me or not. I don't care.
Bob
Yawn - When is Brown going to issue a statement about his anti-war activity or is he going to set me on fire with a denial?
When is Brown going to stand up and tell Pelosi no?
Is Brown going to take the no new taxes pledge? Several Democrats have by the way...
Is Brown going to formally oppose Prop 8? Or is he going to stand with the 4th CD and support it?
Mr. Park:
I admire your unwavering passion for conservative prinicples, but I think you are making a big mistake here.
The goal for any Republican in California is to support the election of Tom McClintockto Congress. That is unequivocal.
For many Republicans, however, Proposition 8 is difficult. Many of us know individuals who are openly gay. To us, it's just no big deal. If Bruce wants to marry Steve; fine. It doesn't affect me. Whatever. Who cares.
A congressman like the kind of representative Charlie Brown would be is one who opposes domestic energy production, supports rasing taxes, and wants to halt the War on Terror.
That does affect me.
Aaron, it is not mutually exclusive to oppose Prop 8 and support McClintock. You can't fight for every cause; many Brown voters will vote Yes on 8 and many McClintock voters will vote No on 8.
With all due respect, the real world is not as black and white as you often paint it.
Let the games begin!
Thanks for the visit "PMA8" - we can agree to disagree over how the definition of traditional marriage is foundational to a healthy society and agree that Brown would be a disaster for California.
Welcome to the blog.
PMA8, I think that Bruce marrying Steve isn't the big issue. What people do behind closed doors is their own business. How it affects you and me is actually a seperate issue. For one, should Steve be able to collect Bruce's social security after Bruce dies? And what about children? Should they be exposed to that kind of lifestyle, and grow up thinking that's how they should act? That's a tough pill to swallow. But I agree with you in your support for Tom. Yes, Brown will raise taxes, make this country a more unsafe place to live, and will increase costs of energy.
Bob, that's some pretty immature name calling on here. Just so you know, it makes you sound ignorant. The swearing I mean. Not cool.
Well, it's nice to know that Brown will get 1 Republican vote. He's gonna need it, cuz with a 50% Repblican district, and a mere 35% Democrat base, that is going to be quite tough uphill battle.
Davido,
I was responding in particular to Aaron's name calling which was completely out of line.
However, you are right. I was mad and that's no reason to be uncivil. I don't have to stoop to the same level as Mr. Park or other posters like Tommy J. That said I have no intention of apologizing to Aaron Park.
