OTT: Brown to District Voters: Raise Taxes

Brown Launches Deceptive Attack on McClintock
Calls for McClintock to Vote for Massive Tax Hike
Roseville CA- August 8, 2008- Charlie Brown once again demonstrated his ignorance of the state's budgetary process-and the tax-fighting nature of the District he seeks to represent in Congress- when he sent a misleading email to "4th District" residents. In that email he said that Tom McClintock and other Republicans "aren't doing their jobs" because they have opposed a massive, Democrat-inspired tax scheme. In fact, Republican legislators are working night and day to fight this raid on our pocketbooks.
If the GOP legislators had caved last month, as Charlie Brown wished, the new taxes would have totaled some $8.2 billion. By fighting the proposed plan, the Democrats' latest rejected budget deal would have cost taxpayers $6.6 billion. So those "non-working Republicans" have already saved taxpayers $1.6 billion and are fighting on.
Brown also stated that legislators are getting paid for "not doing their jobs; the truth:
1.) Senators Dave Cox, Sam Aanestad (who represent Placer County) and Senator Tom McClintock, our nominee for the 4th CD are NOT getting paid currently.
2.) Charlie Brown defines "doing your job" as completing a state budget. Since the current proposed budget was negotiated between Democrats and the Governor, none of the above three Senators would be making a responsible decision by voting yes.
3.) On the table have been deals involving a massive sales tax increase - the most regressive tax. Sales taxes disproportionately affect the poor. Republicans voted to protect them.
4.) The current budget proposal uses smoke and mirrors to cover a burgeoning California budget deficit.
We are left to believe that Charlie Brown's labor union supporters must have contacted his campaign and told them to take a shot at Senator McClintock. In so doing, he has taken a shot at all 40 Senators (25 of whom are Brown's fellow Democrats).
In the same spirit of his campaign parroting Nancy Pelosi's Use-it-or-Lose-it mantra (regarding why we can't drill new land that actually has oil in it),
When Brown adopted Pelosi's use-it-or-lose-it mantra, he did not realize that existing federal law already includes such a provision.
"Sorry Charlie," or should we say thank you Charlie: you have again demonstrated along with your opposition to lower gas prices that your values of taxing the poor and supporting budget deficits are out of touch with the values of the 4th Congressional District and Placer County.

Speaking of misleading statements (aka Lies) by Charlie Brown.
People in glass houses... pfffft.
Another fine fact-free post from Aaron Park and the fine people at PCRA.
I went to the source (placergop.org) and there was nothing more there than what is posted here. Air.
Many allegations, no substance. There's a reference to an alleged e-mail but no copy of the e-mail...only attacks on what the attacker claims was in the e-mail.
Nice! Aaron's editorial standards get lower and lower and lower and...
So put up the text of this e-mail. I usually get Brown e-mails. Maybe they purged me off the list because I haven't contributed to Brown this year.
Inquiring minds want to know exactly what it says. No cropping the e-mail.
Yep, unfortunately that's all Brown knows how to do. Increase taxes, and keep spending and spending and spending. Typical liberal democrat behavior. Ha, and yeah Charlie, way to dis your own party! Maybe you'll ditch Pelosi next and come up with some ideas/plans of your own. But for now, we're just happy hearing the two of you speak as one.

I'm a fan of the movie Good Fellows too too. You sound a lot like Jimmy Hanson.

I will not slur Republicans or even all McClintock supporters. That would be doing exactly what a handful of very desperate local McClintock supporters are doing.
Bill George twists Charlie Brown's words to portray Charlie Brown as saying something he did not say.
Bill George says:
In that email he said that Tom McClintock and other Republicans "aren't doing their jobs" because they have opposed a massive, Democrat-inspired tax scheme.
He takes four words, "aren't doing their jobs" and grafts it into his own partisan diatribe.
Charlie Brown, as is Schwarzenegger, is taking the whole of the legislative body down in Sacramento to task.
Brown echos Schwarzenegger in urging all sides to get cracking on the budget impasse. He does not finger point at "Republicans" as George mendaciously asserts. Nor does he side with "Democrats" as George mendaciously asserts.
This is what Schwarzenegger says:
GOVERNOR: They shouldn't get paid and they should never make that money back, so there is no loan for it, because right now they can get a loan. And I think that as soon as you cut the pay -- it's just an idea of consequences. I'm just talking about we've got to have consequences, because then people think twice about -- rather than being so casual about it. Oh, let's wait. Then they talk about -- when is the Democratic Convention? Oh, yeah, it's at the end of the month. Well, maybe they can't go. So that means that they're thinking about that we will be here talking about this another 14 days?
I mean, we can solve this literally in one night. As soon as there are consequences people will sit down and will not leave the table. That's what you do when you negotiate and when you're late. We are now six weeks beyond, more than six weeks beyond the constitutional deadline.

He wants both sides to stop the "Kabuki" and Brown says amen to that. And they shouldn't get paid period, no deferred pay period. Both sides have to act as negotiators in the private sector, give some, get some...
Sorry Lee - I know you are somewhat new to the political game.
Every year when the Democrats want to raise taxes and the Republicans say no... the same charge is leveled, those obstructionist Republicans aren't doing their job.
It is that simple, but, if you like we can test that with the voters.
One other thing: the Governor does not negotiate with the Republicans and has not since the 2004 budget.
He basically makes a deal with the Dems and says to the GOP vote for this or else.
2008 is no different. Brown injected himself into this with his email and stuck his foot in his mouth.
