A Recent Radio Appearance By Brown Suggests Why He Is Avoiding Lincoln-Douglas Debates
Posted by: Aaron Park | 08/24/2008 10:48 AM
Now that Todd Stenhouse has gone on the record with straight-out lies accusing blogs of spreading disinformation about "DebateGate". I have decided to look at some files in my email to get a better understanding as to why Charlie Brown wants a scripted, controlled style of Debating... and why he wants 1/2 the number of debates that Tom McClintock is suggesting.
The link takes you to a page on the Placer CRA Blogsite that has four clips hosted from AM 1240 KUSE, a station in Susanville, CA where Brown was interviewed regarding the Energy issue.
The four clips are Charlie's predictable answers to questions from the interviewer.
Listen for yourself and see if my comments about Charlie's inability to finish a sentence have merit or not. Also listen for the similarities between what he says and what Nancy Pelosi is saying - it is uncanny.
One could not help but think that if this 'personality' came out in debates - it would be a killer for Brown's campaign.

Aaron, you say:

Yes, uncanny seems to be in the air lately. Some of the recent anons who have shown up have an uncanny resemblance to John Stoos.
What is even more uncanny is Stoos seems to have continuing connections with McClintock. This at the bottom of a very bizzare piece authored by Stoos.
"John E. Stoos is a political consultant living in Sacramento California with his wife Linda. They have six children and soon thirteen grandchildren. John is the former host of the radio talk show, Dialog, and serves as Chief Consultant for Senator Tom McClintock. You can reach him at (916) 451-5660 or stoos@pacbell.net"

Who pays for Stoos' consulting work for McClintock?
And who paid for Stoos' involvement in this?:
Well, if we needed some proof that this very well may be the case, you need look no further than a survey, released today, that shows Tom McClintock RUNNING AWAY with the GOP nomination for Congress in the 4th District, where incumbent John Doolittle is retiring. The survey, commissioned by Ted Costa and long-time McClintock confidant John Stoos over at Constitutional Advocates, and conducted by the very reputable Moore Information public opinion research firm, shows some pretty powerful numbers for the termed-out State Senator.”

Lee - Stoos is not here to defend himself.
However, Stoos does not work for McClintock and has not in a long time.
He was a volunteer blogger during the primary - what he is doing now, I don't know as I have not talked to him in quite a while.
Meanwhile back at the ranch...
Now back to the issues:
1. Proudly re-affirms ACLU membership
2. NRA is not who he is
3. Opposes Fire Protection
4. Opposes Private Property Rights
5. Supports Gay Marriage
6. Firmly opposes offshore drilling
7. Brown stands with Code Pink
8. Brown wants McClintock to vote yes on the State Budget (with tax increases)
Lie List
1. Vietnam Vet
2. McClintock's Paycheck
3. Blaming Bloggers for pre-emptive debate strike
4. telling people different things on drilling
5. Misleading press release about gun rights
It keeps growing...
Aaron
You throwing up baffle gab will not stop what is quite clear. Stoos has had close involvement with McClintock since leaving the chief-of-staff post in 2003
You will be hearing a whole lot more about this including Stoos being still McClintock's chief political analyst in 2003 when AB182 got a "no" from McClintockd. This in the face of Stoos bailing on debts via bankruptcy some years before.
Too bad Stoos isn't the one running for office.
You're losing your edge, I thought you were a better bridge player than this.
So much for Brown running a clean campaign. It is good to see the desperation this early.
MCC 55 - Brown 43... that's where we are at currently.
yep, tell me about your squeaky clean hands...I am putting up nothing but facts and my "table presence" tells me you are playing a bad hand. You wish the deck would fall on the floor.
Glad to see you're in a wad. I have issues, you have personalities. I will bid 6 issues, let's dance.
I have a marriage and I am going to spend the rest of the evening with my wife.
Your baffle gab gets you nowhere...
Nice dodge, I'll consider that a bid of 5 no-trump.
Great clips, Aaron. If Charlie Brown talks like that during the debates not only will the voters laugh at him for using terrible grammar, but they will also see how weak his energy plan really is and how it is EXACTLY the same as Nancy Pelosi's.
The bottom line is Charlie is an extreme liberal, with some off the wall views when it comes to the issues surrounding this election. We don't want another ACLU, Code Pink, Gay Marriage supporter representing us in CA. There's too many as it is.
As for the Stoos person you mentioned, I don't know what the argument is all about...
DavidO - 55 to 43 is where I have it handicapped right now.
Notice the deflection comments - I think I am on to something with these clips. Have you listened to them? They don't reflect well.
Add to this, the growing contraversy over Charlie Brown's anti-war activism... no wonder why these guys are going psycho already. It is going to be worse than a 12 point spanking in November.
Mr. Reed, you seem a little preoccupied with the issue of John Stoos. I've read what you have to offer and I pretty much remain uninterested. I am guessing the voters of the 4th CD won't be very interested either -- too much explanation necessary. But if the Brown campaign wishes to educate everyone about some guy's biography, instead of focusing on, say, energy, or the Iraq War, or immigration, then that is their decision.
As for the audio clips, Brown is not terrible. But he is definitely no Obama. McClintock seems to me a proven debater and speaker, with far more experience under his belt in those arenas. I would expect Brown would want fewer debates. He'd be smart to.
Hi Lee,
I did take some time off this summer from Blogging, but I guess I now need to say a little something about how many times you can be wrong in just one set of posts!
First you put up a bio-tag to make it look like I am a consultant for Senator McClintock today: I was such a consultant from 1996 until 2005, but do not work for him today. Too give the readers some idea of how out of date this information is, I will soon have 21 grandchildren, not 13 and I have not used the pacbell E-mail for over ten years.
It is also interesting that you call the article it was attached to "bizarre" without including any text or a link so folks can decide for themselves!
Next you offer as PROOF that I am working for Senator McClintock the poll that Ted Costa and I arranged last spring. This was an independent poll and the results were released to ALL of the primary candidates at the same time.
You also accuse me of using anonymous posts on this site: I think those who were around for the primary know that I am not afraid to speak my mind and am one of those who use their real names!
So Lee, I don't think you are putting up "facts."
In another post you questioned how Senator McClintock could have hired someone like me when the Contra Costa Times had determined that I was anti-Semitic years ago. Yes, Senator McClintock did know about that debate this paper covered and did what you and many others fail to do: HE asked what happened! I explained to him as I do with anyone who care to listen that it was an unfair portrayal of what happened and after the paper was given the facts by my lawyer, they printed an apology!
Hope all of this helps and as we often say on this list, how about we get back to the issues... Anyone want to discuss Prop 8?
John
Oh yes, you also mention the bankruptcy that I was forced to file: Again if you checked the facts, I did not "bail" on a single debt, but paid all those to whom I owed money: The only thing that was NOT paid was the judgment for legal fees that would have been paid to the Feminists Center for a court case about our 1st Amendment rights. I don't donate to Planned Parenthood and I certainly was not going to give money to an abortion clinic or their lawyers!
John
You were McClintock's Chief Political Analyst in 2003 when McClintock had a decision to make on Harmon's AB282 bill. In the end, only McClintock and Mountjoy voted "no" vs. 116 legislators who voted "yes".
What was your input into that decision?
Lee,
Unless it was a major bill, like the budget, the electricity crisis or the car tax, I was not involved in decisions on legislation. Senator McClintock is one of the few legislators who actually reads the bills that are presented for votes which is why he often cast votes that are different from the pack.
