RCP Exclusive - Ose Spending Coverage (now 6.2 million)
By Sgt. York | 07/01/08 | 10:40 AM EDT | 0 Comments
The latest installment in Rampage Watch 2008.
It just keeps getting worse - while assailing Bruce Kranz for raising money from "Wealthy Developers" the Auburn Journal gave Bloomfield-Montgomery a pass over the $35,000 she took from a single donor from the Bay Area.
Meanwhile, Auburn Journal Endorsed candidate Doug Ose broke a record for the ages.. the total is now north of $6.2 Million. Remember that old pre Mc-Cain Feingold Account he had $450,000 in that he used to start his campaign? Apparently, because there was outstanding unsatisfied debt, there were accounting loopholes that allowed that old account to be used.
I am not a consultant, I am not a campaign treasurer... but the Number that came back from the stunned DC establishment was that Ose spent $6.2 million. This means that McClintock was almost outspent 6-1 and still won by 15 points.
My Brother George, President of the Placer CRA penned a column for the PCRA Blog about with a message to local electeds about the ramifications of this election passed.
Other Local Media Outlets like the Chico paper and the Nevada County paper have editorialized that Sue Horne and Doug Ose ran the nastiest campaigns they had ever seen.
If there was ever any more proof of what Republican voters want in their candidates - look no further than our own backyard. The establishment flexed their muscles and lost, bad.
The Auburn Journal made an idealogical decision, endorsing the most liberal Republican in the race - I would never accuse them of being part of the establishment. However, their decision not to follow up on Ose or Bloomfield-Montgomery's money, both of whom they have/will endorse is consistent with their pattern of anti-Conservative / Republican bias.
We deserve better from a news source - hence the coverage of the AJ Rampage 2008 continues.
