Brown's Campaign Dealt a Death Blow by the AP - Article says we are winning the war

Tunacharlie.gifSorry Charlie!

As posted on the National Blog of this Red County System and as posted on the Placer CRA Blog ...

(Both have different commentaries attached to them - the Placer CRA Blog post hits the 4th CD race hard)

The AP has cracked the media wall of constant focus on negative news in Iraq to finally acknowledge what many of us have known for a while. The war in Iraq is being won and was winnable all along.

Look for Brown to change his campaign website and start spinning in earnest. In fact, I see a reprieve of the "Bush Lied" garbage coming back... as in, even though we are turning the corner, Bush still lied and it wasn't justified to go over there. So there...

This is what happens when a political party positions itself to benefit from bad news. The news gets better and whoops!

This will affect gas prices, too - just watch the Democrats get more aggressive about beating back the demands to start drilling. Watch.

Now Brown is in a double-vice grip. Calitics outed his drilling plan as a Pelosi-Clone and he now has to deal with good news in Iraq.

It has to be really hard for the ex-Colonel. Sorry Charlie!

Hello!

Had the Democrats not won Congress in 2006 we would STILL have Rumsfeld in the Pentagon and STILL be suffering dozens of casualties a week. It took pressure from DEMOCRATS to cause Bush to do something different and, fortunately, after four years of misery and missteps, the latest strategy appears to be working.

And by the way--this poster was an advocate of a massive increase in troops back in 2005 when "stay the course" was all you could hear from Republicans.

The situation in Iraq today is heartening. Meanwhile, Afghanistan, which has always been the central front, is in trouble. Had we only never invaded Iraq at all...

The success (so far) of the surge is due to pressure on the Bush Administration by Democrats. Don't take too much credit for it, Aaron. And don't think it's a "death knell" for anyone.

Oh, by the way... Is McClintock still asking for a declaration of war?

Man, you can be irritating as hell. Maybe it is the 3rd cup of coffee this morning that makes me a little more vulnerable to your disjointed partisan political polemics.

No, it's that you have waded into something personal. Your thesis is that Charlie Brown and folks such as me are bummed by better news coming out of the Iraq theatre of operations.

Need I remind you that Charlie has mega skin on the line re how things are going over in Iraq and by extension Afghanistan, and Pakistan. By last count that I am aware of, his son has been deployed 5 times. My son, if he can shoot straight on August 11-12, wiil be doing his first deployment the first week of October. ( I am pulling for him to shoot straight, as well as he is pulling for himself to do so ) So I have just a little skin in the global war on terrorism myself.

I know why Charlie chose to stand for public office. Rest assured it was not an opportunistic matter. As I have said before, I met Charlie back in the Summer of '04. His son was flying C-130s out of Kuwait into Iraq. It mattered a great deal how the war was going. And it mattered a great deal how the war was going to me too.

Despite the extra-ordinary efforts of America’s sons and daughters, from the top military ranks to the grunts, the war was going badly. The really galling thing was that our sons and daughters were being very ill-served by Rumsfeld, Cheney, and Bush. Rumsfeld ignored the best military minds during the war planning, ignoring the Powell Doctrine, and went in light.

Rumsfeld fed us bs when things started to turn sour, following the incredibly successful capture of Baghdad by our troops. The unexpected trouble was being perpetrated by “dead-enders”.

Aaron, you and your kind provided political cover for the incompetents. And as such, you ill-served our sons and daughters.

Now things are tracking in a much better direction. McCain stood against his party (and that especially includes you) and called for Rumsfeld to be given the boot. He must and will be given credit for that.

Your frantic and fanatical search for political gotchas ill-serves this great nation.

Join me and John Q as we welcome the leadership of Rev. Rick Warren to elevate our discussions to a more civil and enlightening level…

Gentlemen - thank you for not disappointing me.

We are now winning in Iraq - a point you both concede, but it is still Bush's fault. Bush is just a dolt that only did what he did because of pressure from Democrats that wanted to cut the funding out and who campaigned on withdrawal timetables- no credit to Bush whatsoever for fighting to keep the funding and against cutting and running... Nope, it's all about Rumsfeld now. That way we can deny Bush any credit. Partisanship... Charlie Brown would be disappointed.

Using Lee's words: "Now things are tracking in a much better direction. McCain stood against his party (and that especially includes you) and called for Rumsfeld to be given the boot. He must and will be given credit for that."

I guess, according to Lee, stick a fork in Obama.

Meantime - I have to go illicitly profit from all those big houses and Suv's.
