Who is Frank Ford? - Illuminating Placer Political Shadows...
Posted by: Aaron Park | 06/01/2008 11:28 AM
Frank Ford is an Auburn busybody considered a political guru, who actually makes a living by having several developers pay him to find pro-development and pro-tax candidates. This sounds a lot like a talent agent. When a bond / parcel tax passes, who gets the project? His clients...
I was assailed for referring to the local officeholders as the Emporer's Club. I have been scratching my head trying to understand why all the folks on Ose's list have neither dual-endorsed nor changed their endorsements.
When Rico Oller was the presumptive Conservative nominee - it seemed to me that there was a mass witch-hunt against Oller. The Irony is that Oller was assailed over personality-related issues - the same kinds of complaints I heard about McClintock from Local Electeds I spoke with.
It still defies logic that good, sensible people would throw ideology aside and stay alongside someone whose campaign and career has been a train-wreck. Convention suggests that $4.5 Million and an aggressive smear campaign would work. In fact - Ose's endorsement list is incredible, so incredible that I have asked myself - how did it come about and why have all of those people endorsed a Democrat like Ose?
I was contacted and told Frank Ford was picked by Doug Ose to approach local candidates and get them to support Ose for Congress. I suppose Ford would tell them that if they support Doug they would get campaign donations from Ose.
If they did not jump on board, the story goes that Ford would threaten them saying Ose has lots of resources and will remember who did not support him. Implied was a promise that Ose would then bankroll candidates against the ones who could not be bought. This is also consistent with Ose's past pattern of aggressively exterminating Conservatives.
This is a powerful suggestion of why so many people would turn their backs on the Republican Party's core principles to support Ose over Oller/McClintock. The Republican Party has suffered because of the Establishment types like Ose. However, the establishment has considerable power - you have seen it in your mailboxes as Ose's seemingly limitless resources have pummeled McClintock. The establishment pattern is to attack outsiders without ever telling anyone why they themselves deserve support - except for one key premise: I am connected, my opponent is not.
Frank Ford is the kind of political operative Placer County needs to rid itself of. Hopefully when Tom McClintock is elected we will be able to break the death grip of folks like him running Placer County. Our City Council members need to be free of intimidation and influence peddling.
I was told of another player whose influence helped assemble the Emporer's Club behind Doug Ose... Placer County Executive Officer Tom Miller.
Miller has reportedly told every Placer County department head as well as every city and special district administrator that they must back Doug Ose as Tom McClintock's anti tax and spending philosophy will leave them broke. The department heads and city administrators then went to their people (city council members) and said under Tom McClintock the cities would all go broke.
As a result - the local electeds placed Earmarks over principle in supporting Doug Ose. In the end, the talk about Oller/McClintock's personality would appear to be a façade in light of this data.
Life, Marriage, Family, Gun Rights, the Borders and a host more Conservative ideals were tossed aside. The tremendous influence of Miller and Ford completely explains why last week's rumors of the ranks breaking did not occur.
It leaves me scratching my head about politics in general - the consultants that read this blog shrug and cash their checks and accept this sort of stuff as standard faire...
When "Joe Lunch bucket" hears about this sort of behavior, it gives them a gag reflex.
In either event, principle is the loser... and there goes the Republican Party with it. Thank God McClintock came into the 4th CD to save the district from itself.

Wow, I am shocked to hear that Aaron has discovered/invented another conspiracy theory. Maybe Aaron should offer the all these Ose endorsers some tin foil so they can block the signals coming from the UN back helicopters directly into the chips that were planted in their heads.
The question is, will McClintock chastise supporters like Aaron, who has now accused all the Ose supporters of committing felonies...ie, selling their endorsement for campaign contributions?
Aaron, you're right. I think the thing guys like Flint and Uhler fear most is the fact that Tom won't be in their back pockets. Tom won't kiss their butts and be their friend. He'll be his own man and will shake up the "politics as usual" mentality we have in Placer County. We need to break that cycle and bring in new, fresh, blood. That's gotta keep guys up at night like Uhler and special interest business owners who are used to elected officials picking up their phone calls and answering their emails at the drop of a hat. It's like a mini revolution!
Great post, Aaron.
I don't know Frank Ford personally, but I know that we have several people like the way you described him. We need to expose them and get rid of them quickly! If not us, who?
These "insiders" who trade on their connections have done a great job of shoveling boatloads of taxpayers' money on all sorts of dubious projects, then they come back and tell us there is no money left for basic services that government is supposed to provide. We need to put a stop to it.
Jeff - There is a difference between the anon commenters whose rights you care more about than mine who wrote "...like Aaron who committed election fraud" and/or "Aaron who committed election Fraud"
...And outing a character in the shadows and writing "I suppose Ford would tell them..." and "the story goes that Ford would threaten them"
It is called reporting a corroborated story from Anon sources - under my own name because I stand behind what I write. Please also note the tense in which I wrote my piece - third person with my own first person commentary asking questions as to why so many people would support a dirt-bag like Ose.
This stands in stark contrast to your venerated anon commenters who with no accountability can hurl insults and call people felons in imperative, period certain terms.
What you avoided - I submit - deliberately avoided when you busted out the tin foil hats is that this story is damming and offers a very plausible explanation for why seemingly everyone in local office in Placer County drank the same kool-aid.
In my 11 years here, I have never seen anything like this and there had to be an explanation. The "I hate Rico" crap wasn't doin' it for me... that's the ball game.
Roseville Righty - leave Kirk out of it - he admitted his reason for endorsing Ose (Oller) and also commented on an earlier thread that his dad was not bought off.
Kirk Uhler may be wrong for supporting Ose - but he is not crooked, nor is he a liberal. I'd have voted for him if he had an opponent.
All this being said - Kirk is a smart man and I am sure he will chart a smart course after McClintock wins the primary.
Do you see me whine about the anonymous commenters who have attacked me? Who cares? Small price to pay for putting your opinion out there.
As far as my comment, it is really very simple. Do you believe any one Ose endorser traded his or her endorsement for a promise of political support or campaign contributions. Yes or No. No BS about "corroborated story from anon sources" because, as I have pointed out before, your previous corroborated stories from anon sources included me being paid by Ose (false), Tony Quinn being paid by Ose or MTA (false), Ose using paid walkers (false at least at the time you made the charge), the number of trips Ose had taken to DC (wrong), and Bill Saracino having a secret deal with Richard Temple (until Bill endorsed McClintock, then he was OK again.)
Sorry, Aaron, but at least in my book, you have not earned the trust to post a "corroborated story from Anon sources."
Jeff - Since you brought the felon comment into the paradigm... you earned mention of the brave anon Doug Ose commenters again. That fact was self evident.
Do I believe some people who endorsed Ose did so for reasons other than hating Rico or having their hands out for earmarks... yes. Those two explanations just didn't hold enough water. This is the significance of this development.
If you by your own standard of perfection want to use the fact that I pointed out a 25+ year associate of Richard Temple, who has been paid by MTA... coupled with people telling me he was currently getting paid by MTA as a basis to challenge my credibility... go for it. Quinn may not be paid by MTA currently, but he isn't far from them, and you know that.
You and Quinn are friends and consultants, I am an activist. I will put that credibility on the line anytime in public. Especially the portrayal of Quinn as a credible non-biased source.
You refuse to acknowledge that Ose made far more than three trips to DC, and was angling for John's seat long before he retired - choosing instead to hang your hat on my missing the timing of trip one which occurred before Ose declared. (I wrote that he made three DC trips after he declared - trip one was just before... damn me to hell for that)
Actually, Jeff - people saw Ose in the Capitol club several times in 2007 before he declared.
Bill Saracino's column got railed on by me for writing about a non-issue (residency) nothing more.
I questioned Dutra - who worked with Quinn and Temple in the capitol... anyone that attempts to ignore those connections especially in light of the timing of that column and the fact that Quinn has been quoted in at least 8 of Ose's mailers, is drinking the proverbial kool-aid.
Did Ose's staff call people and offer to pay them - hell yes. I blogged it, Ose's staff decided not to - you called me a liar for blogging it. I wear it as a badge of honor because Ose was embarrassed temporarily from buying walkers. I know the people contacted by team Ose who told me they were - so keep holding on to your belief if you like.
One lesson I have learned from debating you Jeff - is to wait and line things up a little better. I did not think I was going to have to wait until now to write about Mr. Ford. I have known of this guy's existence for about 6 weeks now.
What Ford is, is a problem for the establishment and team Ose.
The fact that you attack me instead of answering the subject of what I wrote is quite telling indeed.
