Post your Red County Placer Election Predictions

Posted by: Art Vandelay | 06/03/2008 7:59 AM

(Editor's Note: I had planned to do this post myself, but we'll let this one ride.  We'll even make a contest out of it...so post your predictions on the winners of CD 4, AD 3, and Super 5, and we will use the McClintock-Ose percentages as the tie-breaker.  This winner gets a prize.  What prize, I don't know...  Anyway, I am bumping this to the top through Tuesday at 8 PM, and any who wish to enter can post here before 8 PM.)

After a lengthy election season, the primary is just a few days away.  Hundreds of posts and thousands of comments have been logged on this site, and the day of reckoning for many Placer County candidates, campaigns, and politicos is upon us.

Its time for all you Placer pundits, political pros, and prognosticators to make your best predictions as to what will really happen on Tuesday.

In the comments, please make your predictions on who will win the following contested races:

1) CD-4
2) AD-3
3) Supervisorial District 5

If you are confident in your predictions, please feel free to predict the margins of victories.

I'll start us off

1) Tom McClintock by 4 pts
2) Dan Logue by 7 pts
3) Bruce Kranz and Jennifer Montgomery advance to the November runoff

McClintock by 23

Logue by 14

Kranz 46% - Montgomery 2nd place.

Prop 98 and 99 both go down.

John Stoos Author Profile Page said:

CD4: McClintock 62% Ose 30% Jones 6% Terbo 2%

AD3: Logue 52% Horne 48%

5th: Too close to call

Brown 95%

Bob,

If Charlie does not get at least 80% of the vote in this primary, you should come on over to the winning side soon!

Does anyone think Ose has a chance?

Ecclesiastes3_8 said:

CD-4: feeling like a McClintock win, prob in the 5-10 pt range
AD-3: Horne by 2
PC-5: run-off with Kranz & Montgomery (although I heard from my dem friends that Jen Montgomery might be able to pull this one off)

No matter how this goes, its going to be an interesting fall! Have fun, off to church!

Checkmate said:

Kranz comes in a close second to that Bob guy and it goes to a runoff. Bob takes Republican vote that Kranz lost when he endorsed Ose.

Ose and the liberals lose big. Liberal Kirk Uhler and sell out Lew Uhler gets tarred and feathered, and NTLC should collapse in its sell out stench.

Even with the (Ose) lies, smut and disgust sent to mailboxes and blasted on TV for the past 8 weeks with the help of Ose's own checkbook, Tom McClintock will win by 10-12 points.

Steven said:

Anyone have any idea what Ose's internal polls say?

Has the club for growth been very active in this race?

Aaron Park Author Profile Page said:

Steven - the CFG has run radio and has sent at least 4 pieces of mail.

I have also heard that McC had received 3 "bundles" of checks from CFG members.

Let me re-iterate my predictions:

McC by 23

Logue by 14

Kranz 46%, 1st place in a runoff with Jennifer Moonbat

Prop 98 and 99 both get defeated.

Efrem Sepulveda said:

Arpaio by 20 in the Maricopa County sheriff's race...oops wrong state

Tom by 17 points with wailing and gnashing of teeth at the Ose headquarters

Don't know much about the other two races so you guys guess.

I'll predict that the sun will rise as usual on June 4th. The USofA will still be a democracy. The Bill of Rights will still be intact. The Golden State will be its usual vibrant self. Aaron will be alive and well. Aaron's missus will murmur sweet nothings in his ear. And he will suggest a long needed break from preaching to his Sphere of Influence. And that will make the missus very happy...

Ah, the celebration of La Dolce Vita...

Jeff, we'd love to hear your prediction -- you've been quiet on this one!

CD 4: VICTOR: McClintock by 18 points. Ose, LaMalfa, Niello, Cox & Co. PUNISHED.
AD 3: VICTOR: Logue by 7 points. Horne, LaMalfa & Co. PUNISHED.
PC 5: TOP VOTE GETTER: Kranz - goes to run off.

Russell Wilkes said:

McClintock by 17 - McC 53, Ose 36, Jones 6, Terbo 5
Horne by 6 (have you seen Logue?)
Kranz- Run off with Montgomery Kranz 39, Montgomery 36, Houston 25

Art Vandelay said:

PJB jr - Why do you and others keep insisting that Mr. Flint is (or wants to be) on the Ose payroll? I checked his website and don't see any candidate campaigns on there.

It is possible to support Ose and NOT be on the his payroll.

I predict that as the sun rises on June 4th, we will be ushered into a new era by this lone wolf, John Galt-like hero. We will be renamed Galt’s Gulch.

Ayn Rand was so prescient some 50 years ago, describing the advent of this new era…

“We are introduced to Galt's Gulch in the final section of the Novel, in the first chapter, entitled Atlantis. The people live with each other in completely free society and embody everything which is the thesis of the Novel, the appropriate values for a society of Mankind: philosophical, moral, economic, legal, aesthetic, and sexual, among others too numerous to mention.

We find industrious, ambitious, happy people continuing their chosen fields of endeavor without the yokes of any taxation or regulation. Conversely, there is a reverence for private property…. “

Has anyone noticed that the Ose folks are REAL quiets on this post?

Is anyone hearing anything about the new poll the Brown campaign just released???

Lee Reed said:

The Ose folks are busy carpet bombing places like my community of Sun City Rosevillere with door hangers. How do I know this? It is because I have to pluck them off friends' doors who are out of town for the duration.

Besides, Ose folks are not into parlor games, even if they had recreational time. They are into golf and duplicate bridge.

I hate to break the news to the three-timing park that Ose is going to win by 15.

Pete Wilson is the most important Republican endorsement in California.

In honor of Ose's brave anon commenters - I too have decided to comment under an assumed name.

(If you haven't figured out who this is yet, STEP AWAY FROM THE KOOL-AID)

Anyone who thinks Pete Wilson is anything more than a political zoo attraction is out of their mind.

Lee - you are talking about Ose's paid walkers door hanging every house in the neighborhood. That is brilliant strategy in a primary. It is about as inspired as targeting DTS voters who are some of the lowest propensity out there.

When you have the ability to set fire to $4.5 million like Ose - hey the Wood Utilization earmark he voted for was $5.6 million btw - I guess you see the value in that strategy.

Doug Ose - send him to D.C. to waste our money.

The fact that some commenting on this blog are not being paid is even more disturbing. Something about getting paid a few dollars for a...

Where's MY check??? If everyone's getting paid, I must have missed getting my W-2

John Stoos Author Profile Page said:

I think it might be Pete himself who has come on to our list: Who else would think Ose is going to win???

Steve,

Charlie as a poll out from a Washington firm that has him beating Ose or McClintock in the fall... Surprise, surprise.

The way they accomplished this feat was to slightly adjust this conservative district into a rather moderate one, showing 42% of the folks in their sample as "moderate" and only 37% as "conservative." If you adjust that to reflect the district the Republican nominee would win by 5 to 10 points which is what I think we will see in November.

I hate to break this to you. In Galt Gulch, Retardation is not allowed. Everyone has to be self-suffient.There are no taxes and therefore no social service safety net. The Looter Party has been vanquished. They will have cut and run when our John Galt-like hero casts a steely eye their way...

John,

I think you are in real trouble come November. McClintock will be the albatross around the neck of the Placer County Republican Party.

Bob

John Stoos Author Profile Page said:

I don't have any official polls as yet, but trust me on this one: McClintock by at least five in November.

The marriage amendment and parental notification measures have BOTH now qualified for that same ballot, so I am being VERY conservative with this estimate... pun intended!

John

PS for Bob: Have you asked Charlie is he is going to vote for or against those measures yet?

Roseville Righty said:

Jeff Flint and company has made quite a bit of money off Lew Uhler's organizations and others like it. I'm sure Ose has used his services, if not this time, in the past, or he's banking to use Ose in the future. He’s a millionaire after all with connections. When you support local elects with money for decades they will undoubtedly be in your back pocket supporting you when the need arises. Why else would these business "leaders" be so vocal about supporting Ose over McClintock. It doesn't make any sense other than money. Ose doesn't stand for anything. He stands in the middle of the road if anything at all. He doesn't rock the boat and these guys eat that stuff up. Ose supporters really don't care about the Constitution, Pro-Life issues, God being removed fro our schools, Second Amendment rights, govt funded abortions, etc. All they care about it cheap immigrant labor, policies that benefit big business exclusively to the detriment of the middle class and whatever benefits their self interests, whether that’s starting up a solar company or gaining more revenue for your PR firm.

Stop this stranglehold on Placer polices and vote for change….vote for McClintock!

PJB jr said:

If Pete Wilson is such a big deal in the endorsing game, why did our beloved Gov. Arnold distance himself from Pete, not only in the first term, but absolutely in the re-election? Didn't the sacbee already talk about how candidates are ducking the Wilson endorsements? I guess many Ose supporters took the short school buses or were under the bleachers too often smokin’ the green stuff.

Now go back to drinking your kool-aid, I hear it comes sugar free now.

McClintock wins by 20%

Roseville Righty said:

Looks like I was close.

BTW, Ose's a businessman? Maybe he ought to re-think his career, or his hiring skills. How can you spend almost $5 million in a PRIMARY and lose????? Wow! Doug, I've got some swamp land in Florida and a bridge in Brooklyn I wanna sell ya!
