Why is Wilson Opposing McClintock?

Every organization that deals with immigration reform, which has looked at former Congressman Doug Ose's voting record, has given Ose very poor ratings. Congressman Tom Tancredo, who has been the voice for immigration reform in Congress, saw first hand Ose's poor votes for reform. Tancredo supports Tom McClintock and opposes Ose.

So why would Pete Wilson risk his integrity by claiming Ose had an acceptable record on immigration reform?  During last Wednesday's debate Tom McClintock explained this and it goes back to 1991 when Pete Wilson imposed, upon us, $7.3 billion of direct tax increases, the largest tax increase in California's history.

Tom McClintock opposed this tax increase and warned the tax increase would not generate the income Wilson anticipated.  Guess what, McClintock was right.

The tax increase produced only a fraction of the revenues that had been predicted, and total general fund revenues actually dropped $1 billion.  They dropped another $1 billion the year after.  In 1992 and 1993- despite an improving national economy- gaping budget deficits caused Wilson to raid local government funds by $3 billion.

Wilson's tax increase prolonged California's economic recession and it wasn't until Wilson took McClintock's advice, easing business regulations and reducing the state's taxes that California belatedly joined the nation's economic recovery.

As in the Old Testament when the kings hated the prophets for speaking the truth, so Pete Wilson opposes Tom McClintock for speaking the truth.

And once again we have seen where the fault lines break in this 4th Congressional race- on one side we have Ose and his people who believe in big government, high taxes and less freedom, vs. Tom McClintock and his people who believe in low taxes, limited Constitutional government and more freedom.

On June 3rd voters will choose between either serfdom or freedom.  Let's hope they choose freedom; let's hope they chose Tom McClintock.

Serfdom or freedom? OMG, how dramatic. Tom McClintock and his battle for the pacemaker and lost soul of the Republican Party is more like it.
