Seis De Mayo History Lesson

(Cinco +1 = Seis) / Doug Ose's Immigration Record

On May 5, 1862, the Mexicans were triumphant over the Emporer Maximillian and the French. The French surrendered and withdrew. After a series of Revolutions, the French decided that they were going to colonize Mexico. It didn't last very long - and while Mexico could not decide what Government they wanted - they knew it wasn't the French.

Mexico is one of a few countries with a National holiday dedicated to a Military Defeat of the French. The interesting irony is that I learned Mexican History almost 100% in Spanish at Fresno State when I attended class there.

It dovetails well with Doug Ose and his votes against English Only. Even in the early 1990's as a student, I had to listen to professors talk about the "reconquista". (That refers to the 1848 treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which should be a national holiday, where 50% of Mexico's territory was ceded to the US after Mexico invaded Texas and we defeated them).

Anyhow - Ose was apparently ignorant of history or was enjoying the Good Life in Washington DC wasting our money. HR 3722, Roll Call #182, May 2004 - Limit Medical care for illegal aliens only to medical emergencies - Ose Voted No. So, Doug Ose voted to provide Government health care (see also medicare) to illegal aliens. When you couple this with Ose's voting against repealing the practice of giving Social Security to Illegal Aliens - you see a pattern... wasting our money on earmarks and non-citizens.

Just like the French plundered Mexico in the late 1850's and did nothing for the Mexican People... Doug Ose consistently voted to take our tax dollars and spend them coddling future Democrat voters. 150 years hence, Doug Ose took the place of the French and now we are talking about the American People.

In March 2002 - HR 1885 Roll Call #53, Doug Ose Voted Yes to extend Immigration Residency for Illegal Aliens, otherwise known as amnesty.

In July 2003 - H amdt. 246 to HR 1950, Roll Call #367 - Ose Voted Against Imposing Major Restrictions on the use of consular issued ID cards. Apparently, Ose thought it was OK to drop $20 for a Mexican ID to use to gain entry into the U.S.

As Ose voted repeatedly to throw the door wide open (his claims about the fence be dammed) to America without rules - it brings me back to the racists I was subjected to in College who railed about the need for the Reconquista. As a young 20-something College Student, I listened to a bunch of folks rant and rave in Spanish becuase they didn't want to say what they were yelling in English.

In 1862, the Mexican people knew what they needed to do with the Emporer and his club. 140 some years later, they have their eyes on the Southwestern US if you ask some.

Apparently, Doug Ose was asleep at the switch when the reconquista started in 1986, when Dan Lungren and others created the first amnesty. Maybe worse, Ose felt the need to open the border wide open becuase he got weak at the knees when Illegal Immigration activists used the "R" word.

It makes the case for in Oct 2001 - HAmdt. 378 to HR 3061, Roll Call #380 - when Ose voted against repealing federal funding to pay for translators for non-English speaking federal contractors. Apparently, Ose understood in 2001 that translators would be necessary to deal with the consequences of votes that he was going to make.

The Story of Cinco de Mayo ends with Benito Juarez emerging victorious. Juarez became the first Native American President of a Country in World History as a result.

On May 8, 1862 - Juarez allowed the French safe passage out of Mexico with one exception. Emporer Maximillian was marched up to the top of a hill in Mexico City and was shot by Juarez in front of a very large crowd.

Blogger's Note - I took a break from the regularly scheduled exposure of Ose's Millionaire Liberal Voting Record to catch up on other politics in the Placer Region. If anyone has any news about Bruce Kranz in particular, please let me know.
