Ex-governor Wilson blasts McClintock, endorses Ose - Sac Bee, Associated Press, News 10.net
Former California Gov. Pete Wilson let it be known Tuesday that he is no fan of congressional candidate Tom McClintock. Wilson began by putting out a letter attacking the veteran state lawmaker as an obstructionist who has accomplished little.

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Tuesday declared a state of emergency in Placer and El Dorado counties, ahead of what may be a hazardous fire season. The declaration came as Schwarzenegger and his Nevada counterpart, Gov. Jim Gibbons, approved a set of recommendations stemming from last year's Angora fire.

Pay raise for supes OK'd for November vote - Auburn Journal
Placer County voters will decide Nov. 4 whether to give the Board of Supervisors a raise. With supervisors Kirk Uhler and Bruce Kranz opposed, a government-spending watchdog questioning part of the plan, and a supporter of the raise calling for the board to hold off, supervisors Robert Weygandt, Jim Holmes and Rocky Rockholm moved forward with a proposal that could raise their salaries from $30,000 to $48,000 a year.

June 16 is the target date for Placer County to start issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. The county clerk's department will join local governments throughout the state in allowing gay couples to marry. The move comes in response to a May 15 ruling by the California Supreme Court.
