My HOA has not Read the First Amendment

Why my friends in the McClintock camp may not appreciate the Doug Ose for Congress sign in my front yard, I hope they will agree with me about the little note left on the sign this morning from my HOA that all signs, including political signs, are prohibited by CC&Rs.
Maybe they forgot to read the First Amendment.
For the record, I am leaving the sign up.

Jeff - please note that CC&R's can not ban the display of non-commercial signs.
This was specifically done to prevent them from preventing the display of campaign yard signs.
Every gated community in east Roseville has yard signs... I can get you a copy of that statute if you want it.
Speaking of yard signs Jeff, in a very exciting development in the CD 4 primary, Aaron Park has created his own campaign signs. Have you seen them yet? The only problem with his signs are that he is having them placed on private property without out the owners consent. I have to give him credit though, it was almost a creative idea. Maybe I shouldn't give him credit though, because he probably didn't come up with the idea himself. My guess is that the campaign that he is so supportive of probably gave him the idea just like they probably give him all of the content that he posts on this blog.
Aaron, thanks...like I said, the sign is not coming down. And the day after the primary, I'll have an Ose sign delivered to George's house too! ;-)
Jeff - it's a deal, you can come over to George's house to post a sign and we will photograph it for posterity.
However, you have to agree to the same - if Tom wins, then we can come up to your place and post a McClintock sign in your yard!
Danny, Danny, Danny - Would you like some cheese with that wine!? Some of us are capable of independent thought - I know that's a rough concept for team Ose, but come on!
Glad there is a law protecting your ability to post a sign. But it is up to California or your HOA to protect your freedom to post political signs.
For the record, the Constitution says "Congress shall not abridge" your freedom of political speech.
You can join organizations voluntarily with rules that limit your freedoms. Even government agencies. For example, employees of intelligence and law enforcement federal agencies must agree not to campaign in any way. All federal employees are denied by the Hatch Act from soliciting campaign contributions for any partisan candidate. Active Duty soldiers and sailors may not campaign in uniform.
Just a quick thought.
