Kirk Uhler is Clueless

Posted by: Ken Campbell | 05/12/2008 4:54 PM

Kirk Uhler is completely clueless as to how honest government works as evidenced by his quote in today's Sacramento Bee (view whole article here):

"But Uhler said McClintock is wrong in a current pledge to oppose every single congressional spending earmark- even for needed projects in the district.

"Tom will publicly refuse the tools available to all 435 members of Congress," said Uhler"

There are honest and legitimate ways to get needed money to the district and that is through the tried and true committee process of authorization, appropriation and oversight.

The corrupt earmark/pork system that Doug Ose and Kirk Uhler advocate circumvent the legitimate spending process allowing Congress to spend without oversight, discipline, transparency or accountability.

Many members of Congress use the earmark/pork system to buy votes, facilitate campaign contributions and reward friends.  I have documented (click here), with footnotes, just a few of the many examples of abuse of this corrupt system.

Republicans earned a "thumping" in 2006 because of, in part, their corrupt spending binge.  Former Sacramento Congressman Doug Ose is a throwback to that time, the same old same old.  Doug Ose told us, "If you want to be part of the club, you have to make accommodations."  So Ose made "accommodations" and became part of the problem.

President Bush described how Congress sneaks the earmarks/pork into conference reports, "Over 90% of earmarks never make it to the floor of the House and Senate-- they are dropped into committee reports that are not even part of the bill that arrives on my desk.  You don't vote them into law.  I don't sign them into law.  Yet, they're treated as if they have the force of law."

Tom McClintock believes in honesty and integrity and he will be one of the reformers who bring Congress's corrupt spending practices under control.

And yes, Tom McClintock has said he believes projects in the 4th CD can "compete" for federal money in an honest and forthright manner using the legitimate system that ensures oversight, discipline, transparency and accountability.  Kirk Uhler should study how this legitimate time-tested system works.

At least Kirk is willing to put his own name on the attacks!

The real hard truth with Federal spending is that we need to stop asking the Federal government for money or spending on projects and other services. As it is, the Federal government is stealing our money through taxes, and somehow we expect something in return. When we ask Congress for spending in our Districts, it justifies more taxation and the perpetuates the waste of money already taking place.

I was just out in DC for the first time this past April, and one night I happened to meet someone who worked for the Treasury, a Republican. He boasted of how we have the most efficient tax revenue collecting system since the Roman Empire, and it still isn't enough to provide all the services people are asking for.

If hundreds of millions of U.S. citizens are being robbed by the government, it makes sense that they ask for hundreds of millions of services. Which we'll never see. We have to unlearn looking to the Federal government for help; once this takes places, we can start to cut taxes and spending.

I think it is telling that the Ose moonbats are MIA.

Poor Ken. You simply don't understand how the process works do you. Feel free to read about it at the Office of Management and Budget earmark website - http://www.earmarks.omb.gov/ . Maybe then you'll stop telling lies and actually be factual for once. I can't even believe you pretend to be a Rotarian...

I find it interesting that when Senator McClintock visited DC he attended a fundraising lunch with lobbyist associated with earmarks, even those backing the notorious Coconut Road Project.

The previous two comments were brought to you by Ose supporters... so proud to support Ose, that they remained Anonymous.

I am sure those not on Ose's club roster are going to do the same starting June 4th.

Future McClintock supporter:

He needed to meet with them to tell them two very important things:

1) He is going to be the next congressman from the 4th

2) Getting all this support for scandalous spending both in terms of volume and method is going to become MUCH more difficult!

John

By the way, if those lobbyists gave any money it probalbly went to Cabana Boy and not Tom!
