Over the Transom - Horne "Denounces" Gay Marriage Ruling

Posted by: Aaron Park | 05/15/2008 2:30 PM

In a hastily written press release - Sue Horne Denounces the Gay Marriage Ruling today.

Horne is obviously embarrased or is trying to distance herself from the Log Cabin Republican endorsement.

(Nevada City) - Conservative Republican Sue Horne strongly denounced today the faulty Supreme Court ruling which legalized gay marriage and overturned voter-approved Proposition 22.

"This ruling is an abomination to California families," said Sue Horne.  "Voters overwhelmingly passed Proposition 22, making a strong statement that we want traditional marriage preserved for a man and a woman.  The court has no right to redefine this sacred institution that has stood for millennia.  I will fight to overturn this faulty decision."

Active in her local church and a co-founder of a local pro-life crisis pregnancy center, conservative Republican Sue Horne has never shied away from fighting for the conservative position on social issues.

I did not get a statement from Logue denouncing the ruling yet...did you?

Just in case Jeff is inclined to take another cheap shot, here is Senator McClintock's statement:

"Today’s Supreme Court ruling is a travesty of judicial activism and is based not on California law – which is crystal-clear – but on the social views of the individual justices. Fortunately, the initiative process allows voters the opportunity to overturn this ruling by adopting the Marriage Protection initiative this November. I intend to do everything in my power to campaign for this initiative.

"Marriage is an institution that exists in nature and ultimately is beyond the power of any government or court to redefine. It is the union of a man and a woman to summon new life into the world. It is this act that creates a tapestry of unique responsibilities between the mother and father, both to each other and to the child. Our marriage laws are solely crafted to support this singular relationship and are inapplicable to any other partnership." Senator Tom McClintock

I agree with Tom on this. The only cheap shot was Aaron's commentary before posting the release. FlashReport covered extensively that many people who "got" the Log Cabin endorsement did not solicit it and rejected it, including Sue Horne.

Jeff - Please check yourself, I know you have been after me lately trying to hang your hat on any misstep that I may or may not have made.

Horne never rejected the LCR endorsement. In fact, I have been sitting on this for a few weeks now. We were waiting to see what she did with it, that answer is nothing.

As in nothing for the people of Nevada County or the amount of truth in her attack against Logue.

So, if the Horne camp gave you some sort of secret comminique' please share it with us.

Otherwise, enjoy Logue's 20-point victory.

If Horne issued a press release rejecting the Log Cabin endorsement, it was ex-post-facto as no one in my network obtained a copy of it.

Tell JCA to get to work... QUICK.

Since you never asked, you might not know that, based on the knowledge I have today, if I lived in the 3rd Assembly District, I would vote for Logue.

That being sad, I am shocked to hear that no one in your "network" reads the FlashReport:

Log Cabin Republicans of California

Director James Vaughn:

I am writing to let you know that my campaign for the 3rd Assembly District Republican nomination is neither seeking nor will accept an endorsement from the Log Cabin Club.

As you may know, I have taken a strong stance in defense of traditional marriage, and I believe our party must make traditional marriage a permanent plank in its ongoing platform.

This, of course, puts me in direct conflict with the interests of the Log Cabin Club. Please forgo any consideration of my candidacy for possible endorsement.

Sincerely,
Sue Horne

Are you man enough to issue a retraction?

Jeff

A note to one website is not a press release.

Since you live in a literal world, please produce a press release or a campaign email with a verifiable date before today.

That is what I asked for.

Several candidates wrote the flashreport but did nothing else as they did not want publicity for this LCR endorsement.

That, Jeff is the main point of the discussion.

Jeff Flint said:

The point of the discussion is that every time you get caught in a lie, you change the subject.

That's what I wrote...

Exactly, Aaron, you set up the terms on your own to prove your point. You set the definition as having to issue a press release.

In fact, more people probably read Horne's rejection of the Log Cabin endorsement on Flash Report than would read it if the campaign issues a press release that gets no overage in the media, which is probably what would have happened.

I appreciate you have your favorites, and I don't ask you to be unbiased, you you repeatedly cross the line by fabricating information about people you oppose.

There is no evidence that Horne sought the Log Cabin endorsement, that she did anything but reject it, and that she has any position other that opposing same sex marriage.

And I am saying this as a Logue supporter!

Just to make a clarification.
Although I sit on the boards for Capitol Resource Institute and Pacific Justice Institute, I am speaking for myself and not those organizations.

A few years back when CRI was fighting the battle against the anti-family policy of confidential medical leave at Roseville Joint Union High School District, Sue Horn read about the issue, researched the issue in Nevada County and asked CRI to come in to help her overturn their anti-family policy of confidential medical leave. Sue was a valiant solider for the family, at great cost to her... but she knew what was right and she would not back down.

Sue has always supported the pro-family organizations of CRI and PJI. I have seen her supporting California Prolife. Funny thing, I have never seen that Dan guy out working for or supporting the family. So what it looks like we have is a pro-family fighting veteran vs. a new comer to the cause. Again, not speaking for CRI or PJI but for myself, we would love to see and in fact welcome Dan's involvement.

Does anyone know if Sue Horne is trying to win this election by telling gay and lesbian voters in the 3rd Assembly Distict not to vote for her? Is this some kind of new Zen strategy of electioneering? Or is she paying her consultants too much money for counter-productive advice? It seems to me that I heard that the candidate with the most votes wins the election but...help me out here?
