The annual series of "Year in Review" articles are starting to hit local papers, and we'll try to cover them as they pop up.
In today's papers, we see a Sacramento Bee "Year in Review" article in their Placer County Thursday insert, and a Colfax Record "YIR" for their town.
The Bee's Placer article focuses mostly on the continued growth in Placer County, despite the real estate slow down, and in particular, in annexation and development issues in what will someday be West Roseville:

Top Story: Development
Placer Vineyards and Clover Valley proposal dominate news
Despite a slowed housing market, plans for expansive development and large annexations dominated the news for Placer County and its cities in 2007.
Drawing the most attention were Placer Vineyards, the largest project ever approved in the county, and Rocklin's proposed Clover Valley development.
Placer leaders also inched forward on a countywide land conservation plan but lost ground on a proposed sales tax measure for local road funding.
Other issues making the "top story" list for the Bee in Placer County include:
- The "Shaken Baby" case ending in a hung jury
- Ron Artest's "dog troubles" at his home in Loomis
- The real estate dealings of Former Placer County Planning Commission member Michelle Ollar-Burris
- The I-80 interchange and bridge widening at Sierra College
- The Angora Fire
- The plans for Drexel University to open a campus in West Roseville
- The proposed new theater in Lincoln.
In the Colfax Record "Year in Review", they focus on the economy:
Year in Review: City's economic health tops headlines in 2007Read the whole article here.
Colfax's economic health topped the headlines in 2007.
In September, ground was broken on Colfax's new wastewater treatment plant. The construction project - at a cost of more than $9 million - represents Colfax's largest single project.
The city overcame fierce opposition - fueled by the specter of past mistakes --- numerous obstacles and possible litigation to gain permission to build a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant on Grand View Avenue near Tree Farm.
When completed, the city will be facing a new problem - managing growth while keeping the small-town charm.
Although there has not been an official moratorium on construction throughout Colfax, restrictions have been in place for years because of the limited capacity of the current plant.
I am sure there are more to come, and we will cover them here.
