I recently discovered "The Loomis Lowdown" blog, which covers Loomis politics. By their archives, they have been in business since March, 2007.
A recent post on the Lowdown argues for a No vote for the upcoming Loomis Fire District assessment/parcel tax vote. They make a strong case that these parcel tax votes are inherently biased toward successfully passing the tax:

This election will be decided by the rich! If you are wealthy enough to owned multiple parcels of land, you get many votes! And not only do you get many votes, but if your land is developed your vote is worth more! This flies in the face of anything considered democratic. This same issue went to ballot two other times and did not get passed, but now we are voting in a "Special Election" in this manner. THIS REALLY STINKS!The author reports that Assemblyman Ted Gaines will be looking into the process of how these parcels taxes are called.

Gaines is making noise again. I was starting to worry about him as he had been laying awfully low for several months.
All Ted needs to do now is endorse John Doolittle and he can get on with his next 5 years in the Assembly. (or 9 if 93 passes)
