Outstanding NIMBY/"I Got Mine, You Can't Have Yours" op-Ed in Bee today

The Bee today featured an outstanding example of the NIMBY/"I Got Mine, You Can't Have Yours" kind of thinking that permeates the environmentalist/no growth crowd.
Authored by Elaine O'Deegan, the Chairwoman of the No on Measure H campaign in Rocklin, it is classic no growth speak couched in the 21st Century Church of the Global Warming rhetoric.
I won't bore you with the details, click to the article if you want all the stats about how many car trips and CO2 emissions and the like that would be created by, horror or horrors, a few hundred new homes in Rocklin.
What is always missing from these folks is the explanation of why the house they live is did no harm to the environment, but the next guy's house is going to destroy the planet.
If Ms. O'Deegan wants to save th earth, she can start by bulldozing her own house, destroying her own car (which I am sure she is proud to tell us is a hybrid) and not consuming any resources. Anything she does that involves combustion and those evil carbon dioxide molecules must stop immediately. Then, when she is back in the Pre-Stone Age, she can complain about someone else.
Until she has reduced her own carbon footprint to zero, she can keep her opinion to herself as far as I am concerned!
