The Dump Doolittle Blog makes some interesting comments about Assemblyman Ted Gaines' flirting with the 4th Congressional District seat:
While Gaines is still polite and circumspect in his comments about Doolittle, gone from his former campaign website is this cozy photo and Doolittle's name at the top of the list of his endorsers.
Although Ted Gaines owes a lot to John Doolittle for his successful political career (County Supervisor & Assemblyman), he is not a John Doolittle clone. If Doolittle does indeed exit stage right, Ted Gaines will be a formidable candidate in the Republican primary.
Meanwhile, blogpen member Aaron Park handicaps the field against John Doolittle at the Placer CRA Blog, and finds them all coming up short. Ted Gaines is not on the list, however.
Finally, Steve Maviglio comments on his poorly-named California Majority Report blog, although I would suspect Steve would actually prefer COngressman Doolittle remain the GOP nominee in the 4th CD.
If it wasn't bad enough that Congressman John Doolittle has already attracted two primary opponents, there's fresh evidence that even his stalwart supporters are questioning whether he can beat Democratic challenger Charlie Brown.
Assemblymember Ted Gaines (left), who is cut from the same conservative political cloth as Doolittle, questioned Doolitte's chances in an article in the Auburn Journal this weekend.
