Outing of Doris Matsui

Congressman Dan Lungren did it (link here). Congressman Wally Herger did it (link here and look at the great pictures). Congressman Tom McClintock did it (link here). Now it is Doris Matsui's turn.
Doris Matsui has avoided it up until now, but on Saturday, October 10th, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Matsui will have a Town Hall Meeting. Matsui's invitation is pasted below or link here for more information.
As I have bloged on the experience of a Tom McClintock Town Hall Meeting (link here) and the fun we had-- this Matsui Town Hall Meeting should also be an unforgettable experience. Don't miss it!!
Dear Friend,
The state of our health insurance system impacts all Americans, insured and uninsured alike. Throughout the national debate over health insurance reform, I have listened to and visited with many Sacramentans including community members, families, seniors, doctors, nurses and small business owners. As the debate over health insurance reform continues, I would like to continue hearing from you about your thoughts, recommendations and concerns on this important topic.
This Saturday, October 10 th , I will be hosting a public forum to discuss the health insurance reform legislation that is currently pending in Congress. This forum will be held at Sutter Middle School in Sacramento , and will begin promptly at 11:00 AM. Your input will play an important role as I consider the provisions of the proposed legislation.

It looks like the August Town Hall meetings and strident talk radio shows devoted to attacking health care reform produced the opposite of the effect intended by Tea Party leaders and anti-reformists of all stripes. I think the moral of the story is don't knock something if you have nothing to offer in its place.
A recent AP poll shows that opposition to reform is crumbling:

The latest Associated Press-GfK poll has found that opposition to Obama's health care remake dropped dramatically in just a matter of weeks. Still, Americans remain divided over complex legislation that Democrats are advancing in Congress.
The public is split 40-40 on supporting or opposing the health care legislation, the poll found. An even split is welcome news for Democrats, a sharp improvement from September, when 49 percent of Americans said they opposed the congressional proposals and just 34 percent supported them.

Health care: Public Option
Its nice to be retired... play some golf. The nice part is meeting others with many different backgrounds. I have had some good discussions with a few in the medical and insurance industry. They have 35 + years and understand their profession. They have stated the public option is needed. It will help curtail and brings down cost. Tort reform is also needed. I was not sure before.... but I am finding myself changing position on the issue.

|and he is a complete RINO. Try Again... also, try using some polling data that wasn't colored by the bias of the agency commissioning it. ---- As someone in the insurance industry - anything public would be a disaster. Everywhere Insurance is made government controlled, it has been a disaster.
