Sac Bee reports that Sacramento Republicans are preparing to cave on taxes. It seems that Republicans are ready to trade tax hikes for magic beans.

Sac Bee reports that "some Republican lawmakers are willing to consider a tax hike" as part of a larger deal that includes "permanent program cuts, a hard spending cap, and other issues".  Of course, only utter fools (i.e., Sacramento Republicans) would trade the family cow for this steaming pile of magic fruit. 

The problem is that Democrat promises of "permanent program cuts" or "hard spending caps" are fairy tales.  No thinking person would believe these promises except for the simple minded or incurably gullible.  When the Democrats betray their empty promises (sooner rather than later), the Republicans will feign astonishment and cry foul.

Of course, Democrats need only a few simpletons to cross the aisle.  The remaining Republicans will protest and wrap themselves in their no new taxes pledges.  It is very unfortunate that our Republican leaders suffer an excess of spray tan and teeth whitener, and a dearth of ideas or principles.

If Republicans support tax increases, they will prove that conservatives throw away their votes by voting Republican.  Conservatives may as well vote Libertarian or Democrat because the result is the same - out of control government spending and tax increases.  The good news is that tax increases may provide an economic stimulus - to moving companies transporting fleeing Californians.
