I have received information during the course of this last month or so about the future in OUSD in regards to the 2010 election. I have heard from reliable sources that local gadfly Marjan Dunn will be running for the seat currently held by Kim Nichols in Trustee Area 5. Dunn is a longtime resident of the area and writes for a small local newspaper.

When I ran for this seat two years ago she recommended me in her annual election choices article. I was initially happy to have her support until this year when I realized that her endorsement ironically seems to be the touch of death. She recommended four candidates in 2006:

1-Alexia Deligianni
4-Denise Bittle
5-Myself
7-Larry Cohn

All of these candidates lost.

She recommended three candidates in 2008:

3-Alexia Deligianni & Jerry Winant
6-Arianna Barrios

Only one of these three candidates won and it was Alexia.

All joking aside though if she does decide to run she will face an uphill battle. The union will probably come out and spend a fair amount of money against her and I think she will have some trouble getting the Republican Party to support her after her lack of support for the OCGOP's endorsed candidates this year. 2 years is a long time from now but it is never to early to start speculating.
