Yesterday, I received an email from the Westminster CRA (formerly known as the Orange County American-Vietnamese Republican Assembly...you may have read about that transformation on this blog a few months ago) which stated that Assemblyman Van Tran and Mr. Cuong Cao were putting on a rally at Westminster Mall at 9:30 AM for McCain and Palin.  It started out with "If you want the Vietnamese vote"...you will be at this rally.

I quickly responded to the secretary that the City of Westminster was having their Founders' Day Parade at that time near City Hall (8200 Westminster Blvd) and could they change their time to say 1:00?

This morning I received the following email:  ADDRESS CORRECTION FOR RALLY:

LITTLE SAIGON RALLY FOR MCCAIN

SATURDAY

OCTOBER 25, 2008

If you need the Vietnamese vote, you need to be at the Little Saigon Rally for McCain this Saturday.  Candidate will be given up to 10 minutes to speak to the many hundreds who will come to show their support.  Candidates can bring their signs and staff IF THEY ALSO CARRY MCCAIN SIGNS.  Westminster is celebrating their 50th anniversary inside then we will continue outside rallying for McCain.

This rally is put on by Assemblyman Van Tran and Mr. Cuong Cao.  Please direct your questions to Mr. Cao's Cell  (and it gives his number).

I saw Truong Diep at the Westminster City Council meeting last evening and told him that they were planning a rally at the Westminster Mall at the same time as the Westminster Founders Day Parade (which has been clearly announced for weeks in papers and websites and on television).  I asked him if he could talk to Assemblyman Van Tran and get the rally moved to a different time.  Apparently they haven't touched bases today.  

Mayor Rice has said that if we can have a TET Parade, we can have a Founder's Day Parade.  Now our Founders' Day parade will be obscured by "hundreds" of ralliers because Mr. Cao's Westminster CRA group is not very organized and apparently does not have the same respect for the rest of the people in Westminster, that our City has always accorded the activities put on by the Vietnamese Community in celebration of their holidays.
