The Money Chase in Garden Grove (Part 1)

Now that all financial reports have been submitted to the Garden Grove City Clerk, Red County will do a break down of all the viable candidates and how they performed in term of raising the necessary fund to survive October. In random order:
LINH HO - She reported raising a total of $25,122 for her campaign, a decent number for a first-time candidate. Linh Ho only spent $4,364, which leaves her $20,757 for cash on hand. The bulk of her spending went into producing literature, but she did not account for any of her campaign signs yet. Her biggest contributor is the Orange County Employees Association: $7,500. At current pace, Linh Ho will have enough to send out 2 mailers, maybe 3 if Lou Correa and Loretta Sanchez are willing to fund it.
STEVE JONES - As an incumbent, his fundraising performance is surprisingly weak. Jones raised $46,071 and loaned his campaign $5,000. His burn rate is very high - spending already $36,869, thus leaving him with an amount of $14,202 as cash on hand. However, that's not why I think he is a weak fundraiser. It is weak because the lion share of his money came from exactly 4 sources who gave him $5,000 each: Bruce Broadwater, Mark Rosen, Garden Grove Firefighters Association, and Westminster Housing Group, LLC, (Brandywine, I think). So unless these four contributors want to double down, I don't see Steve Jones raising more than $20,000 by the next reporting period. I could be wrong and this post is not meant to undercut Jones. I think he is a good Council Member who truly cares about the City that he lives in.
BILL DALTON - As a sitting Mayor, it's best to be unopposed, but if one has to face an opponent, you want to be challenged by the lady who is trying to unseat Dalton because she has absolutely no chance whatsoever. For this reporting period, Bill Dalton raised $26,800 from exactly 10 sources. His campaign spent $13,268 on signs, filing fee, etc. Out of the 10 contributors that gave to Dalton, two caught my attention: the Garden Grove Police Officers Association gave him $20,000, an unsual large sum of money, and the other one is the Venerable Thich Chon Thanh, a Buddhist monk at Lien Hoa Temple who contributed $1,500. I didn't know a retired monk has that kind of cash. What is most impressive about Dalton's report is his cash on hand: over $80,000.

2008 Elections, Garden Grove

Perhaps Steve's numbers are "weak" because he's not a true incumbent. He was appointed and has not run before. Accordingly, he does not have the funding base of someone who has run for office before.
That being said, I still agree that his numbers are suprisingly low.
Just like your boss Van Tran giving 10k to Trung and Truong Diep giving 2000 from his midway account and personally giving him 500 dollars. Tri ta donating 500 Dina Nguyen doing the same... His report isn't so glamourous either. LOL! will you post that Tomahawk
Imposter @ 4:15 PM,
Trung's kicking behind against every one and Andrew Do knows that. I hope Trung gets more money from his friends and allies. Why not? What are friends for, right? Just don't ask Janet Nguyen.
