The Letter Too Scary for an Irvine 'Newspaper'

The Larry Agran slate mailer "Irvine Community News and Views" appeared again today in Irvine mail boxes with editor Frank Lunding's cheery claim "We invite readers to share their views."
Baloney.
It's been four weeks since Irvine resident Eric Hall sent his letter to the editor. Frank Lunding has neither run the letter nor gotten back to Eric. However, I, too, made a commitment when Agran's mailer first appeared: "I invite everyone to support this brave new venture by sending an email to the editor....I'll do my part by publishing your letter here on OC BLog if it doesn't turn up in the next issue."
After the flip you, too, can read the the letter too scary for an Irvine "Newspaper":

I'm curious how residents of Irvine feel about the new Irvine Shuttle (www.irvineshuttle.net). I can see getting people out of their cars might be a good idea but something doesn't smell right. Nearly every study I've seen on this type of public transportation show it to be a boondoggle. I'm hoping I'm wrong here.
One concern might be why isn't OCTA doing this? Is there really a cost/benefit value here or is this another boondoggle?
I hear it's packed at lunch but I haven't tried it yet. I also hear that it's great for people commuting by train from the Tustin train station (Amtrak/Metro). I see it says "ride free until 2009." What happens to ridership when they start charging?
This might help understand the situation better: $1.1 MM was set aside for the first year. The Irvine Shuttle had 12,500 riders in July. That's $7.30 per rider! I would think the ridership would plunge too once they start charging in January, 2009.
Why are we subsidizing this again?

Look up Frank Lunding on the California Bar Association web site. He was suspended three times in the 1970s for non-payment of dues.
This is who Agran surrounds himself with these days.
His former treasurer, Renita Smith, went on the lam from the L.A. City Ethics Commission after facing a potential $4 million in fines.
Agran imports a carpetbagger with ties to extremist groups from Aliso Viejo so he can run for him City Council.
And Agran seems to have some sort of an arrangement with Yes on 10, run by T. Boone Pickens, who put millions of dollars into the Kerry smear campaign in 2004. Way to stick up for a fellow Democrat, Larry.
Steve -- Todd is a longtime; he owns a house here. I've been here 11 years now; does this make me a carpetbagger? Todd's decision to run for City Council was his own, but again, you and the truth don't always see eye to eye
Gallinger left town around 2000, lived here very briefly in 2002, left town again, and didn't return until by his own admission people he won't name recruited him to move here from Aliso Viejo. He moved into Irvine in April -- by his own admission.
As for owning his home, County records say otherwise. It's owned by a property management firm in Huntington Beach. Looks to me like he's renting.
According to a reputable commercial real property database, there are only three parcels of real property owned by persons with the last name "Gallinger" in Orange County: two in Huntington Beach owned, at least in part, by the same person and another in Ladera Ranch. None of those three are owned by Todd. Of course, if he held the property through a corporation or LLC it would not show up unless his name was in the name of the legal entity.
Steve -- He left town to go to college. Is that permissable? Yeah, he moved to Irvine by his own admission. Is that a crime? Todd has a law practice in Irvine, so moving to be closer to where you work is hardly a cause to recruit someone to live here. Irvine is also closer to where his wife works. Honeslty Steve, I want some of the stuff you're smoking.
