Obama's Phony "Tax Cuts"

The Wall Street Journal has an excellent editorial today debunking Barack Obama dishonest claim that he's cutting taxes for "95% of working Americans" (or "95% of Americans", depending on the day he's demagoguing).

Obama's "tax cuts" are nothing of the kind. They are straight-out income transfers. Obama, taking Clintonian word-twisting into terrain even the Great Prevaricator might fear to tread, simply re-defines "tax cut."

A certain degree of Humpty-Dumptyism is inevitable in campaigns, but what Obama is doing is just plain lying. He's smart enough to know that Americans will think that when Obama talks about tax cuts, he is using the standard definition -- and Obama knows perfectly well he is substituting his own, brand-new definition.

What a con artist.

Even more maddening is John McCain's failure in two debates to clearly and repeatedly point out that Obama is conning Americans with phony tax cuts.
