Death of Traditional Marriage Highly Exaggerated

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsome, after the state Supreme Court paved the way for gay marriage, declared: "whether you like it or not, the door's wide open now. It's gonna happen, whether you like it or not!", in essence, a declaration that marriage as an institution is dead.
Looking at divorce and cohabitation statistics and marriage trends, coupled with the unfettered assault on the institution by the judiciary and the argument that marriage is a civil rights issue, and as a self-described Gay Zealot wrote in this forum
Yet there are reasons to believe that rumors of marriage's untimely demise are, in fact,
greatly exaggerated. As Orange County Register/Freedom patriarch R.C. Hoiles used to say "No one can determine right from wrong, without some starting point to reason".
Following RC's suggestion, first principles then dictate that if you are enlightened, believe in the Big Bang Theory and feel compelled to listen to the Spin Sisters, chances are that you will vote against proposition 8, then depending on your intellectual development will mount an argument that attempts to justify your decision.
On the other hand, if you believe on a variant of the Big Bang Theory, that marriage as an institution is inspired by a Higher Power, and that the Higher Power is in control, chances are you will Vote Yes on 8. You could go the apologetic route, but realize that ultimately, whether Proposition 8 passes or not, the Higher Authority is in charge, and will judge both sides when the time comes, as sure as 100 out of 100 people are going to die.

" I want the government to force everyone to accept homosexuality as normal. After Prop 8 fails, we are going to go after the non-profit status of California churches that will not marry gays. We have US Supreme Court precedent. It is called Bob Jones University who lost their non-profit status when they did not allow inter-racial dating. Since the CA Supreme Court has declared that homosexuality is a insular and discreet minority like being black, the state can yank the tax exempt status of those bigoted Christians",Wall Street would jump at the odds that the institution is dead, faster than their jump into the sub-prime loans prior to these going through a metamorphosis turning into toxic loans

Personally, I intend to vote for prop 8, even though I have always thought gays should be allowed to marry. Why? Because I'm fed up with "victim" groups forcing their agenda on the public through the courts. It's a very bad way to govern and may well backfire.
Right now, the Democrats are elected on the backs of the gays, feminists, blacks, immigrants etc etc etc. They pick the majority of judges and each special interest group gets their agendas implemented. There's nothing to stop the Republicans from doing the same thing at some point. Angry whites, Catholics, the religous right, the upper middle class etc etc etc have their own agendas and would love to have the courts implement them instead of leaving it to the democratic process.
K:
Obviously we will be voting for passage of Proposition 8. Although in this hyper-PC charged world where “infidelity” is replaced with the more glamorous “affair”, a “gay marriage” is everything but gay, specifically when marriage is understood to be as unitive, as procreative, and as a partnership, as opposed to the twisted, inaccurate and false information about the same-sex marriage issue circulated in Hollywood. Wealthy gay activists and Hollywood liberals like Brad Pitt have spent $5 million on an 8 week media buy airing an issue advertisement designed to create public support for gay marriage. They even got Attorney General Jerry Brown to rewrite the official description of Proposition 8 in order to bias voters against the measure. And last week opponents began spending millions on their official campaign ads, for example.
To be clear, we do not have anything against a civil union for gays. Although we believe that homosexuality is a deviant sinful behavior (entitling the bearer with an express pass to hell), we have a number of gay friends and acquaintances. We also believe that any kind of vice is sinful, and the final judge is a Higher Authority.
The understanding of marriage as a unitive and procreative partnership provides a first-principles, anchoring vision, which can effectively critique and challenge shallow contemporary views of marriage, commitment, sex, and children
A couple of years ago I made a very sarcastic anti-liberal comment on this blog. Missing the attempt at humor, other commenters received it enthusiastically.
The comment by Gay Zealot was pretty obviously a sarcastic one too.
And for those of you who are TRULY humor impaired: when you see Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live, it's not really her. Despite the resemblance, the woman you're seeing is really the actor Tina Fey.
Missy:
A good number of so-called pundits argue against the use of satire and sarcasm, precisely because it is difficult to master. Of course, I never listen to the pundits!
If you accept the notion that there is a Higher Authority, then whether the Gay, Muslim or SNL Zealots use sarcasm or humor does not much matter. It may just all be about personal accountability? It is only the individual who’s threshold of belief (TOB) will allow him or her to place stock in this life, or the next one.
In other words, if the marriage institution, as in Adam and Eve, is godly ordained, then it will survive, regardless of what you do. On the other hand, if you believe in marriage as the union of Adam and Steve, or of Party A or Party B, then you have your answer.
As Clinton would say, it is not about the sarcasm stupid!
