Overnight Parking Ban Battle is Brewing in Tustin

This morning hundreds of Tustin Residents found notices on their cars alerting them to a potential parking restriction being considered by the City Council. The notice (see below) informs citizens of a proposal to prohibit parking on all public streets between the hours of 2am and 6am.
This parking proposal would severely impact the quality of life for Tustin residents. Council believes that their are too many cars parked on the public streets. Unfortunately (as is often the case with government) in attempting solve this perceived problem the Council is creating a multitude of additional problems and infringing on the citizens liberty in the process. Such parking restrictions will result in increased government spending, additional fees, higher crime, and hardships for Tustin residents.
Some on the Council will claim that they do not intend for this proposal to be an outright ban. However, past actions and words suggest otherwise. For more information please go to www.tustinparkingban.com. This ill conceived idea needs to be defeated. Councilmen need to understand that not all problems lie in a government solution; in fact, government involvement often leads to more problems.
The City Council will be holding a workshop to discuss the proposed ordinance. The workshop takes place Monday September 15th at 7pm. The workshop will be held in the Council Chambers located at 300 Centennial Way. Please attend this very important meeting and express your opposition to the parking ban. Or call Tustin City Council at 714-573-3010 and tell Mayor Amante, Councilmen Bone, Davert, and Kawashima that you oppose this proposal.

So after penalizing every OC family by giving away the average OC family's annual income in benefits to Jim Ruth, Davert won't let taxpayers park on streets they pay for.
Doug, when you have run in the past you always indicated you were going to fight for, as in on the side of, taxpayers, as opposed to against taxpayers.
Neal Kelley's shop is open on Monday when you understand it is time for you to come clean and re-register Democrat.
Imagine this:
You own a house in Tustin. You park your car in front of your house one night and get a ticket. You refuse to pay it because your taxes paid for the street you parked it in front of. The fine multiplies because it went unpaid. You go to re-register your car with the DMV but cannot do so until you pay your parking fine. Your registration expires. Your car gets impounded because of no registration.
Now the government has possession of the car you purchased because you parked in front of the house you purchased on a street your taxes purchased.
...and I thought Tustin City Council was full of Republicans.
Tustin has multiple signs around that say, "Work where you must, but live and shop in Tustin." Fine, I guess I will be the one to say it. I truly believe this ordinance targets poor legal and illegal immigrants in the City.I wonder if they mean, live and shop here only if you are not a person of color or dont live in what Councilmembers Doug Davert, Lou Bone, and Jerry Amante continually refers to as "blight". Parking ordinances like these are targeted against those least fortunate members of any community that cannot afford to live in a single family home. These councilmembers, legislating a utopia Stepford Community give a bad name to the Republican Party. I pray they develop some form of comprimise that takes race and socio-economic factors into consideration rather then another revenue producing racially and economically myoptic ordinance.
You pay for these streets? Elphant in the room says it best, this is a tax on the poor and the impoerished, this proposal would not affect rich people with too many cars, and too big of a driveway, this will affect the people who live in the many apartment complexs with more apartments than parking spots and the people in old town tustin who have houses built when one car was more than enough. This is simply a tax on the poor to either move them out and promote new rich development or to just make a quick buck and earn ourselves the reputation of being jerkoffs. And, just to mention, you get a ticket during street sweeping also, just wanted to point that out for those of you who think you own these city owned streets.
Why do I get the impression Bone, Daverte and Amante are more concerned about the citizens of Irvine, passing through our city, than the citizens of Tustin whom they have been elected to serve?
I say just inforce the existing ordinances,,,,
No RV on the street
No cars left for more than 72 hrs
No cars used for storage...easily seen by peeking through a window
One "family" per apartment
As for those families than have more than two cars have paid parking or storage areas avaailable
And by all means do not allow commercial building parking to over flow onto residentail streets.
See, now wasn't that simple?
