Orange County Young Republicans Endorse Trung Nguyen For Garden Grove Council
OCYR Endorsement Comes On The Heels Of An Overwhelmingly Supportive Endorsement Vote by the Orange County Republican Party
(GARDEN GROVE) - Last week, the Orange County Young Republicans endorsed Republican Trung Nguyen for Garden Grove City Council. The OCYRs endorsement comes on the heels of an overwhelmingly supportive endorsement vote by the Orange County Republican Party over his opponents vying for the presumed vacant Garden Grove City Council seat.
"Not only does Trung Nguyen share our Republican ideals of individual responsibility, fiscal discipline and limited government - but his life story is a great example of the promise of the American dream," said OCYR President Shawn Fago. "He will be a tax fighter and budget hawk on Garden Grove City Council. We need his leadership in these challenging times."
The Garden Grove City Council seat will be open in the 2008 election due to Democrat Councilman Mark Rosen being forced out by term limits.
"I am very grateful to receive the support of the OCYRs," said Trung. "The Orange County Young Republicans are one of the hardest working groups of young men and women in the state and their commitment to our Republican cause is unwavering."
Garden Grove School Board Trustee Trung Nguyen has a proven track record of running an efficient district where test scores and college attendees increased - all without raising taxes or bond borrowing. As councilman, he will never support a fee or tax increase.

Did they endorse any other candidate, or just Trung?
Does Trung really want to claim that he never voted for any fee increases?
Trung is a tax fighter and we are proud of his past track record.
Yes, another candidate was recently endorsed by the OCYR; Vivian Kirkpatrick-Pilger for the Midway City Sanitary District. She was also endorsed last evening by the Republican Party of Orange County at the Central Committee meeting, for the Midway City Sanitary District.
Wow!!! Trung has to keep lying.... Tomahawk why don't you post the minutes from these meetings..... and remember this was only a few months ago....

2008-09 Cafeteria Prices Announced - Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at 10:46
Although still a bargain by any measure, cafeteria prices in the Garden Grove Unified School District are going up for 2008-09, only the second change in regular school meal prices in eight years. The new school year for all GGUSD students begins Thursday, Sept. 4.
Effective next month, all student breakfasts will increase by 25 cents. With the new pricing schedule, breakfasts are $1.25 in elementary schools, $1.50 in intermediate schools, and $1.75 in high schools.
Student lunches will increase at all three levels, increasing by 25 cents to $1.50 in elementary schools, by 50 cents to $2 in intermediate schools, and by 50 cents to $2.50 in high schools.
The price of milk for students is 50 cents for a half-pint serving, a 10-cent increase.
Reduced meal prices for all qualifying students remain unchanged at 30 cents for breakfast and 40 cents for lunch.
“The modest price adjustments are inevitable as federal and state food service subsidies are unable to keep pace with rising supply, labor, and operating costs,” explained Karen Papilli, GGUSD food services director. “We are not immune from the sharp increases in food staples affecting all consumers and households.”
The district Food Service Department will continue to offer self-serve fruit and vegetable food bars at all elementary schools, and a variety of meal choices and a la carte cart menu selections at secondary schools each day.
The National School Lunch Program is offered at all GGUSD schools; and the National School Breakfast Program is available at 35 elementary schools, nine intermediate schools, and six high schools.
Information about the district’s food services program, including menus, pre-payment information, and free and reduced-price meal applications, is available on-line from the GGUSD website at www.ggusd.us. From the district main page, select “Food Services” from the “Departments” pull-down menu.

Trung Nguyen should tell the truth about his record on taxes.
His most recent vote for higher taxes was only a few months ago. I'm sure he remembers.
What a pathetic attempt to paint a reduction in "federal and state food service subsidies" as a tax increase. Even paying more for the meal doesn't bring it up to the actual cost of the food.
I'm all for government reducing subsidies.
Kids who are low income actually get the lunches for free still, but for the kids who can afford it, what's wrong with having them pay more of the actual cost when budgets are tight?
As we saw with Tim Shaw, I'm sure the OC GOP and OCYR's would not have endorsed Trung if their was any truth to your spin on this subsidies reduction.
