This came over the transom today from the Arianna Barrios for OUSD School Board campaign:

Spitzer Endorses Barrios in OUSD Election

Assemblyman Todd Spitzer joins growing list of community leaders who endorse Arianna Barrios for OUSD School Board, Area 6

ORANGE , CA - OUSD School Board candidate Arianna Barrios announced today that State Assemblymember Todd Spitzer (R-Orange), who lives in Orange and has a child attending school in the District, has endorsed her candidacy for Trustee Area 6.  Spitzer, a former school board member and teacher, joins a growing list of community leaders and education experts who agree that Arianna will provide the leadership OUSD needs to keep the district moving forward.

"Todd has built his career in public service on the foundation of education and public safety," said Arianna.  "He has served both as an Advanced Placement English teacher and as a school board member.  As one of our community's most respected leaders, his background in education shows that he fully understands how important it is that our children are afforded every opportunity to succeed academically.  I am deeply grateful for the support of someone I admire so highly."
Spitzer's endorsement, certainly one of the most high-profile, is the latest in a growing chorus of support for Arianna's candidacy.  Also supporting Arianna for School Board is Former State Secretary of Education Marian Bergeson and all five members of the Orange City Council.

Arianna is a long-time community leader who serves on the Board of Directors of both the Orange Community Foundation and the YWCA Central Orange County .  Dozens of her friends and neighbors in the community have donated to her grass roots campaign and her list of supporters is growing daily.

Area 6 incumbent representative Steve Rocco cannot run for re-election because the OUSD district boundaries have changed and he no longer lives within the Area 6 Trustee boundaries.  Arianna is the only OUSD Area 6 candidate to have a background in both education and business.  She and her husband have two young children currently in the OUSD public school system and the future of their education and the education of all OUSD students is the impetus behind her candidacy.

About Arianna Barrios

As a businesswoman, Arianna understands the importance of fiscal responsibility, collaborative partnerships and creative problem solving to ensure that our precious tax dollars benefit the students and the schools. While Barrios passionately supports the arts in education, she maintains a steadfast priority focused on the basics of reading, writing and arithmetic. By developing a stronger partnership between parents, teachers and students, we can improve the academic performances of our schools and create a new generation of community leaders.

The freight train that is the Arianna Barrios campaign continues to thunder down the track.

I noticed that Ms. Barrios did not list her educational history beyond high school. Is that an oversight or is there nothing to report?

Brian Lochrie said:

Just an oversight. She graduated from Cal State Fullerton in 1992. We'll make sure that the website gets updated.

I haven't had the pleasure of knowing Arianina, however I know both her parents and will attest to the quality of her parentage and her family's dedication to public and community service. I wish Ms Barrios well in her campaign for the OUSD District 6 Board seat.
