Rackauckas, Hutchens, Ackerman, DeVore, and OC Law Enforcement Back Prop 6

This just came over the transom from the campaign for Yes on Proposition 6: the Safe Neighborhoods Act. With this much support from Orange County's leaders, I suspect Orange County will be solidly behind Prop 6, just like we were on the other Runner initiative, Prop 83: Jessica's Law, which passed statewide with 70% of the vote but 75% of the vote in Orange County.
As someone who's worked in a number of schools and with many kids in places across California, like Anaheim, Santa Ana, Sacramento, and Long Beach, I can tell you initiatives like these are important for protecting our state's kids from sex offenders and violent gang members.
Proposition 6 endorsed by Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas
SACRAMENTO - Sen. George Runner (R-Antelope Valley) today announced that Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas endorses Proposition 6-the Safe Neighborhoods Act, a November ballot measure.
"I applaud and welcome the district attorney's support for this important measure," said Runner, a co-author of the initiative. "Proposition 6 will ensure that local law enforcement agencies have the tools to keep neighborhoods safe."
Rackauckas joins Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens; Santa Ana Police Chief Paul Walters; Huntington Beach Police Chief Kenneth Small; Tustin Senator Dick Ackerman; and Irvine Assemblyman Chuck DeVore in supporting Proposition 6.
Other endorsements include every California sheriff; the California Police Chiefs' Association; the California District Attorneys Association; Chief Probation Officers' of California; and nearly every other law enforcement group, including rank and file law enforcement organizations like the Peace Officers Research Association of California.
Proposition 6 is a comprehensive anti-gang and crime reduction measure that will bring more cops and increased safety to our streets and greater efficiency and accountability to public safety programs and agencies that spend taxpayer money.

At a time when the liberals in Sacramento are working to protect criminals rather than law-abiding citizens, we need to pass measures like this. After all, isn't the fundamental purpose of government to protect us from violence?

Chris, see the article cited in the post below: another perv priest gets off the hook. Battery and burglary? Won't have to register as a sex offender? In six months the Bishop will be waiting for him with open arms.
So who are the soi-dissant "conservatives" in OC protecting?
