Orange Street Fair: Day 1

I always enjoy going down to the street fair every year and enjoy listening to the live music and checking out the different booths. This year the weather is as good as one could hope for in August. I do always spend a pretty good amount of time at the OC Republican Party booth. I have to say that this was a very good day for the OC GOP.
The booth was consistently busy with a number of Democrats changing their party affiliation to Republican. The general feeling that I got from listening to the people walking up to the booth is that they are really excited about Sarah Palin being the pick. This was supposed to be a miserable year for the Republicans but I now see a glimmer of hope.
A number of elected officials were present as well. Ed Royce was rumored to be walking around the fair although I did not have the pleasure of seeing him. Curt Hagman who will soon be elected to the State Assembly was also their with who I think were his kids. This is the first time I have really had a chance to talk to him for a few minutes and have to say he will make a great Assemblyman. Orange City Councilman Mark Murphy was there and I was able to have a very nice conversation with him about the fair.
I am obviously a little bit partial about the last candidate for office that I saw since I am her campaign manager, but I shall mention it anyway because she is the only real Republican in the race. Alexia L. Deligianni was at the booth meeting voters and getting her message out there.
All in all it was a good day and I think I am going to try and make my way down there tomorrow.

Chris,
I went donw there last night. Stopped by the Elks Lodge and hung out with some lodge brothers for a few. Then I went out with myself and two friends. Good atmosphere. We went donw to the west end of Chapman because we could hear a good cover band playing some old Black Sabbath and Ozzy songs.
And who do you think we saw banging his head to the Tunes? none other than Steve Rocco!!
I was standing next to him for about a minute before Ilooked at him closely. Then it hit me. Hey Thats Steve Rocco!
I introduced myslef. He could only muster a nod of acknowledgement. Then I asked him to take a photo with me. he refused. No Photos he said. At first I was kinda upset. But then I rememebred, he never allows his photo to be taken.
Anyway, it was a good day at the street fair. great food good atmosphere, good weather, not too hot or humid, and lots of happy people having fun.
And to top it all off. A Steve Rocco encounter. Sorry I missed you at the GOP Booth. I stopped by the Dem Booth and the Libertarian Booth. I dont recall seeing the GOP Booth there. Are you guys in a different location than the other two? I wasnt really looking very hard for it. I was just walking around enjoying the scenery and food.
Why are you in Orange? I thought you were running for Garden Grove City Council? Or did you change your voter address again and decided to challenege Carolyn Cavecche for Mayor?

I hate to burst your bubble but the Democrats ran out of Obama buttons over 300 on Friday and 300 on Saturday. I did not see a brisk activity at the Republican booth for McCain.
Actually, there was brisk business at the Republican booth when I was there on Saturday, as people stepped forward to sign up to volunteer for the campaign.
It doesn't surprise me that the Dems ran out of Obama buttons, as the age of the fair goer tends to be young, based upon what I saw from my post selling margaritas. But then, what do you make of these same kids (sorry, they may be over 21 and buying liquor, but most are young enough to be my children) wearing the Obama button and waving Ed Royce fans to keep cool?
I am sorry not to have seen Steve Rocco. I am back today. but now I will be looking around to see if I can spot the elusive Steve and get a picture.
Why are you in Orange? I thought you were running for Garden Grove City Council?
Just wondering said:
"Why are you in Orange? I thought you were running for Garden Grove City Council?"
To just wondering, I was at the Orange Street Fair to enjoy some good food, good times, and the festive atmosphere. Why were you at the Orange Street Fair?
Paul -
I think the point is that you're supposed to be campaining, not going to street fairs and committing character assassinations.

Sarah,
For someone who is so adamanet about evoking the rright to free speech when you are the one bashing people you sure ahve an extremely thin skin. Politics is a contact sport. Wear a cup.
Hey Paul (yeah, I know it's you behind that name) -
I'm not running for office and you are, so that 'contact sport' BS is just that. A journalist (me) discredits a politician (you) so you feel the need to retaliate? We're doing our jobs when we cover those who are running for office, and you're just looking for revenge.
Think about it. What do you stand to gain by going after me? It wouldn't have made you look any better to the voters even if you had succeeded.
Besides, I didn't even criticize you in my comment; I just thought you missed the point of the other commenter, and like it or not, it's valid. So why are you attacking me?
I'll ask again: are character assassinations and strawman arguments all you are capable of? Is that how you intend to represent the DPOC now that you conned your way into an endorsement from them? You're screwing it up for your entire ticket in OC.
Paul, you are a pitiful disgrace to a once-great party and the fact that you have to have (read: lose) this argument with me on the Republican blog is very telling. At least I've declared Libertarian and actively staked out the political center. You have been banned from OJ and The Liberal OC thinks you're a joke.
Seriously. Do you get it yet?
Once again I will channel DPOC Chair Frank Barbaro when I say: 'shut up, Paul.'

Let’s make one thing clear to you guys (and gals. The blame for Linh Ho not getting the endorsement lays at the feet of Alicia Berhow, Gila Jones, and Linh Ho herself.
I was there. The first mistake was the Endorsement committee recommendation to endorse Linh Ho and Robin Marcario. Two people we don’t even know.
This was a huge mistake right off the bat for two reasons. First, they wanted to throw Lucas whom we all know, and have counted on in the past every time someone needed help. He was there. No one knew Robin and Linh Ho.
The second and most damaging mistake was having Alicia Berhow speak on behalf of Linh Ho. She tried to throw Paul Lucas under the bus and then prop up Linh Ho.
First, everyone already hates Alicia Berhow. Second, hen she threw Lucas under the bus that clinched it for Linh Ho. Anything Alicia was for, they were against. That’s how Robin got a higher vote count than did Linh Ho.
Following that, Gila Jones got up and spoke on behalf of Linh Ho. Mistake one. Everyone hates Gila Jones. Second, she told the crowd that basically Linh Ho was using the City of Garden Grove as a springboard to higher office. BASICALLY, SHE TOLD EVERYONE THAT Linh HO WAS OUTTA HERE ASAP AND WANTED TO USE THE DPOC TO CATIPULT HER TO HIGHER OFFICE!
Last and final mistake was Linh Ho herself. She sang the wrong song tot he wrong crowd. And she did it with a tremble in her voice. No confidence in her speech at all. People saw a weakling, being promoted by hated people, looking for higher office.
Strike One Two and Three.
If the DPOC wanted to help Linh Ho, they would have recommended Linh Ho and Lucas for the endorsement.
Period End of Story...
The people revolted and sent the elitists packing.
