NB Ballot Designation Fun: Otting

Looking at ballot designations in Newport Beach, four-time
perennial candidate Dolores Otting, who is running against Councilman
Keith Curry for District 7 lists; nothing.
Never a good choice.
But apparently there is more to the story. In papers filed with the city clerk, Otting attempted to use the title "Real Estate Licensee". The city clerk rejected this title. When Otting filed her Form 460 contribution report, a week earlier, she listed her occupation as "retired." The day after filing her nomination papers, Otting amended her Form 460 to change her own occupation to "self-employed-real estate". Documentation filed by Otting with the city clerk to support her ballot title shows that Otting does indeed have a real estate sales license, but it was suspended beginning in July of 2007 for nearly a year due to her failure to meet the continuing education requirements. Additionally her real estate license requires her to work under a broker and her own forms show she has no broker affiliation. Further complicating matters is her campaign flyer where she calls herself a "small business owner". Otting's statement of economic interests shows no income from any occupation.
Otting, often begins her gadfly council appearances with
"I'm confused". Well I am too.
