During a recent email exchange with Assemblyman Todd Spitzer, he referred to a particular constituent as a disgruntled member of a homeowners association.
Now, we have heard the term disgruntled employee regularly in employer-employee spats and usually in whistle blowing scenarios. We have also heard the term disgruntled resident in the context of an argument between representatives of a homeowners' association and the resident itself - Never from a politician to characterize a constituent.
Faced with such oddity, we tracked down the alleged disgruntled individual and asked him if he indeed was disgruntled. " I would not say I was not disgruntled. Instead, I was disgusted and mad as hell related to California government and the bloated bureaucracy up in Sacramento that is owned by all the interests groups in the state and for sale to the highest bidder" he said in part. His response peaked our interest and decided to take a look at what a typical disgruntled member of a homeowners association had to say about Senator Obama.

Hello All: I read another analysis this morning concerning all the tax increases proposed by Obama. If Obama is elected, along with a Democrat majority in Congress and if they pass all the proposed tax increases which seem likely, the state and federal tax burden will jump from an average of around 40% of income to over 60% of income. What is worse is that the capital gains and dividend proposed tax increases will cause the stock market to fall even further which will impact everyone who owns stock including those who have invested in 401K's for retirement. And, those same tax increases will also cause real estate values to fall even further which will be very bad for anyone who owns a home.
Obama is a lawyer and a socialist in the European tradition who has not learned the lessons of economic history. In addition, he knows nothing about running a business. Traditionally, countries with high taxes have slower growth and higher unemployment than has been the case related to countries with lower taxes including the United States . This is fact not fiction. And, in the US , most jobs are created by small businesses. To bring this home to all, if these tax increases are enacted many companies including mine will move even more jobs overseas.
Folks Obama is a very smart; but very misguided, gifted politician who will cause major damage to our economy if he is elected. I encourage everyone to vote; but please listen carefully to what Obama and McCain are proposing on taxes, energy and national security etc. Confiscatory higher taxes will hurt our country and economy. JM
