Daily News Roundup - 2008

Funny how this site is trying to ignore such a big story about your boy Carona...no one has anything to say about this creep? Figures - just standard, everyday OC GOP crap, eh?
Ignore? It's right there at the top of the news roundup? Tell me exactly what is there to add?
But if it make you happy, maybe I'll write a post pointing out the obvious -- about Carona's language and your ignorant, prejudiced belief that racial epithets are part-and-parcel of being a Republican..
Not necessarily the racial epithets, Matt. Just the part about being a general slimeball.
Actually, I do know a couple of decent Republicans. But I doubt they read this, because they have become so ashamed of what their party has become that they are in the closet, so to speak, about their political affiliations.
And having such a large local story at the top of your news round-up is hardly giving this story the attention it deserves, considering Carona's connections to the OC GOP. All you did was provide links - nothing to say on the matter from your personal perspective?
I think you spend too much time over at the liberal OC and the Orange Juice sites and you are perhaps neglecting your own? Although I understand why - the stuff posted on here is generally quite boring. The only issues you could write about to spice it up are the ones you would rather ignore. Must be tough to be a conservative blogger these days.
DF: Boring? That's the term I'd apply to your particular brand of smash-mouth, know-nothing, left-wing street activism.
Then again, it must be tough being a left-wing loudmouth in OC. Shrieking "Bush Lied!" and waving placards on the Orange Circle only gets you so far.
Did I strike a nerve, Matt? You may think you have things all figured out, but I feel sorry for you. You spend your time blogging all day long to what - fight for what you think is right? Nice armchair activism. At least I get off my ass and put myself on the line for what I know is correct. Bush did lie- that is pretty much common knowledge these days, even to shills like you who may never admit it. History will not look kindly on your president or people like you who supported him.
My days at the Orange Circle were good ones. Met good people and had a lot of support from the people who drove by. Our small action may not seem like much to you, but it is actions like those happening all across the country which, combined, have helped bring about the upcoming Democratic wave.
As for myself, if you know anything about me, you would know that I have protested Democrats nearly as much as I have protested Republicans. You, on the other hand, cannot face simple truths about your president. What will it take? Transcripts printed in the paper of Bush using naughty words - that you will then ignore?
Just a quick note: the Carona link sends me to the Trestles story.
Did I strike a nerve, Matt?
Sorry to disappoint you, but no nerve has been struck. You're just one more smug, nasty, shouting leftist whose capacity for discourse rarely rises above insults and slogans. You''re not the first, and unfortunately will not be the last.
You spend your time blogging all day long to what - fight for what you think is right?
Let's see, I started this blog 4 years ago with about 35 readers. Now it grown into an influential network of blogs with around 40,000 readers a month. I think that's a more effective way of fighting for what I believe in than waving placards at motorists.
And for someone who's so proud of what they believe and what they do, why the "DF"?
RP:
Thanks for the pointer. Fixed.
Congrats on growing your blog. I will give you that. You have a place and I have mine. I have, by the way, done much more than stand and wave signs, but I will not bore you with details.
Why the DF? Because when I put my name on a letter to the editor (OCR), I ended up receiving a letter at my house, which was also copied to all of my neighbors, by an ANONYMOUS person, who said crap like I support terrorists and other insane neocon lines. I have children. Some psycho took the time to find out where I live and send me and my neighbors this hate-filled letter full of lies....complete with a Reagan stamp on it. Honestly, it scared me. People on "your side" of the political aisle will do stuff like that to their "enemy", and they'll do it anonymously. I think it to be a small form of terrorism in itself as I could not leave my house for the next couple of weeks without looking around and being slightly worried. This is what I am dealing with. People on the right LOVE to talk about freedom, liberty, etc., but when they see those things exercised, they try to crush it, destroy it, harrass it - as they do now with the Freepers pushing little old ladies out into the street at the Circle. This is patriotism? Its shameful.
Similar to DF's experience, when my husband wrote an editorial in the OC Reg, we also received an anonymous postcard at our home address, attacking him with fairly disturbing rhetoric and claiming to have sent similiar letters to our neighbors. I did worry about our safety, the safety of our young son - and wondered about the tactics of someone who would seek our people in this manner, no doubt trying to silence them and create fear - at the same time "hiding" his own identity.
