This came over the transom yesterday afternoon:
One Week Left to Purchase Tickets for Irvine House RaffleSome background on the raffle: "IPSF originated the concept of using a house raffle to help fund local school needs in 2004. It was prompted by the fact that Irvine Unified School District has historically been one of the lowest-funded school districts in California. IPSF's funding priorities include health education services, ninth grade class size reduction, after-school programs, teaching supplies and scholarships to enable all children to participate in educational programs. IPSF's annual house raffle has sold more than 41,000 tickets and raised more than $8.4 million for Irvine public schools since 2004."
July 25 is final ticket deadline for a chance to win a choice of a new home or $600,000 for just $200.
WHAT: To raise funds for local schools, the Irvine Public Schools Foundation's (IPSF) fifth annual house raffle is giving away a new California Pacific home in Irvine or $600,000 cash, plus eleven additional cash prizes, a bonus "Multiple Ticket Purchaser" cash prize and many more non-cash prizes. The final ticket deadline is July 25.
Grand-Prize Drawing Offers Choice of New House or $600,000 Cash
The winner of the 2008 house raffle's grand prize will receive a new, two-story detached home by California Pacific Homes, or can choose to take $600,000 in cash. The 1,497-square-foot home is part of California Pacific Homes' Cortile development at the award-winning Village of Woodbury in Irvine, named "Best Master Planned Community of the Year" in 2007. The home features three bedrooms plus den, two-and-a-half bathrooms and a two-car garage.
Maximum Odds with Multiple Ticket Purchase Bonus Drawings
All raffle ticket buyers looking to maximize their odds by purchasing two or more tickets will be entered into exclusive "Multiple Ticket Purchaser" drawings. Those who purchase multiple tickets will be entered into an additional drawing for one $10,000 cash prize.
More Prizes Mean More Winners
This year's raffle features several additional cash and non-cash prize drawings, including one award of $25,000, second prize; two awards of $10,000, third prize; three awards of $5,000, fourth prize; five awards of $2,500, fifth prize. Non-cash prizes include items such as electronics, vacation packages and gift certificates.

Thanks for posting this Jubal. For those who are interested Irvine Unified is recognized as an excellent steward of tax dollars as measured by the amount of money that goes into the classroom versus administration.
Irvine receives less funding than the vast majority of districts in the state of CA.
