Daily News Roundup - 2008

congrats matt!
Not only must you like your name mentioned in what will surely be one of the final stories ever written about Orange County in Sam Zell's dying-on-the-vine rag, but the fact you and a Times reporter felt compelled to expose a public official based on overhearing a joke during a conversation further proves the clairvoyance of one William S. Burroughs who wrote, among many things:
Thanks for a country where
nobody's allowed to mind the
own business.
Thanks for a nation of finks.
Aren't you that guy who used to write for the OC Weekly?
I won't hold it against you that you have no idea what you are talking about.
I didn't expose anyone. I had no intention of posting what Carlos said. In fact, I didn't. I give people a zone of privacy: everything is off the record unless I clearly indicate otherwise.
Unfortunately for Carlos, he made his comment to an LA Times reporter. Why don't you kvetch to Christian Berthelsen?
I only got pulled into it when Carlos decided to deny that he said what Christian and I clearly heard him say. Would you prefer I go along with that lie?
Jubal -
Aren't you the guy who outed sex abuse victims on your website, causing them severe emotional trauma and job-related backlash?
I won't hold it against you that you still continue to be an apologist for men who knowlingly allowed children to be raped.
Ok, maybe I will.
Hey Hoznie: No. "Outing" is a deliberate act in which the intent is to make public something about an individual or individuals that they'd prefer not be.
As I've already said several times, I didn't realize when I posted Msgr. Urell's deposition that it contained several unredacted names of victims. As soon as that was brought to my attention less than 24 hours later, I took it down and apologized.
But then, you already know that.
As for your "apologist" line -- that is also untrue, and you know that as well, but don't care because you'd rather lambaste me for what you want to believe I've said and done, than for what I have actually said and done.
Carlos should have never lied about this and never forced Jubal into the position of confirming that Carlos made that stupid remark. Saying it in front of a reporter--or even someone you don't know given he was on the County clock in a County building---scores low on the political IQ test. The lie gave the story legs. Jubal should be commended for doing the right thing. Carlos should man up to the truth and apologize.
And the ad hominem attack was pathetic.
