Governor Schwarzenegger Signs SB 1185

He did not extend the two year tax base credit to people who have to find new homes, but he signs what critics call a puny (cleaned version) bill. Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today signed SB 1185 by Senator Alan Lowenthal (D-Long Beach) allowing developers to build already approved subdivisions as soon as financing becomes available by extending the expiration date for specified subdivision maps.
To help Californians (critics charge it is TO HELP DEVELOPERS WHO DONATE TO LEGISLATORS] ] affected by the housing market downturn, the Governor has:
Among other things:
* Announced $10.5 million to train workers displaced by the housing slump.
* Awarded $73 million for affordable housing projects in Proposition 1C and Proposition 46 funds to help more than 1,600 California families rent or purchase affordable housing.
* Awarded $5.6 million to help displaced mortgage and banking workers find new jobs.

"(critics charge it is TO HELP DEVELOPERS WHO DONATE TO LEGISLATORS)" - what critics??? The Sierra Club? I hate that term "critics say". Did "they" really say that, or are you just supposing that "they" would?
Some of the critics in the term "critics" are also the ones vehemently opposed to the use of the California Law Revision Commission (CLRC) as backdoor to lobby-free legislation.
Lobby free legislation...yeah that's a good idea, cause the legislators are definately qualified to understand every issue and every industry well enough to make educated descsions on their own!
Special interests and lobbyists are as essential as the elected officials themselves. Thats the way capitalism works!
Looks like the same old "tax and spend" California legislature. They are on a guaranteed payroll (no checks drawn on IndyMac here), with vacation pay (no bounced IndyMac vacation pay checks here), and health care (paid for courtesy of us Californians). You want a critic: YOU GOT ONE> ME. Challenge: go look at all the political contributions made from said companies AND their subsidiaries AND pay particular attention where they came from and where they went/go. THEN do your own survey on how many siblings are in both the Senate and the House THEN do your own survey on how many in both the Senate and the House are ATTORNEYS. You want a level playing field? Clean House. While your at it, Clean the Senate. Then put out the rat poison and see how many snakes you catch.
Lots of complaining, but absolutely no suggestion other than throw "them all out with the bath water". Bitch, Bitch, Bitch
