Cook Political Report Downgrades Rohrabacher District

Kudos to the Total Buzz for spotting this piece of information on the election contest in CD 46 between incumbent Dana Rohrabacher and his Democratic opponent - Huntington Beach Mayor Debbie Cook.
According to the Cook Report, CD 46 moved down from "Solid Republican" to "Likely Republican". Though this is still a major uphill effort for Debbie Cook as she attempts to pull a "Loretta Sanchez" on Dana, this new development should alarm the GOP establishment out of complacency.

GOP voters need to throw the bums out, but not throw the baby out with the bathwater. Rohrabacher won the National Taxpayers Union's Taxpayers Friend Award in 2007 (as did Royce, Campbell, and Issa).
As voters, we need to do our part by separating the wheat from the chaff.
While this is an interesting note in this race, I think the reasons behind this move are more important. I would like to now why Cook moved this race down a notch. Did Unelected Mayor Cook have an impressive fund raising quarter to justify this, because of internet buzz about her on the left, or the misleading view that she is the elected mayor of a Republican city, therefor she is more viable than past candidates.
Tomahawk,
No matter how you slice it things are looking bad for your party in November. Getting rid of Rohrabacher would be nice, but watching Obama kick McCain to the curb will be historic and satisfying! What a great way to pay back the GOP for 8 years of Bush.
Marshall blah blan said, "Did Unelected Mayor Cook"
Ballot designation for Debbie Cook: Mayor of Huntington Beach
Ballot designation for Mike Schroeder: Darth Baby
Anyways Van gets butt whopped and and Debbie's Race gets upgraded.
Then Trannie Paul Lucas gets called to the carpet.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, everywhere in the OC I go.
Tomahawk what race are you going to blow this fall?
Perhaps the Westminster City Council Race?
You Paul and Dina are such a great Dream Team. What talking points did Paul ask for today?

Despite your rambling diatribe, the fact remains that, while Debbie Cook id officially the mayor of Huntington Beach, it is an unelected position. Whether, you like it or not, that is an important fact in analyzing this race or any other election with similar elements. There is a reason Tom Daly is seen, for now, as the man to beat in '10 to replace Norby. There is no way Mrs. Cook would have received this much publicity and attention were she designated Councilwoman Cook rather than Mayor Cook.
Maybe Cook would put Loretta Sanchez's seat in play too if he knew of the latest allegations about her scandalous private life and growing image problems. See, e.g.--

According to the court documents George Bush couldn't be called President if your logic was followed, Marshall
She is Mayor and no one else is
"There is no way Mrs. Cook would have received this much publicity and attention were she designated Councilwoman Cook rather than Mayor Cook."
And if frogs had wings, they might also be upgraded in the Cook Report. Face it, whiney losers: 1) Debbie was re-elected to Council in 2004 by the widest margin any councilmember had been re-elected, while voters had full knowledge of her pro-environment policies and membership in the Democratic party; and 2) This upgrade from less than a week ago had nothing to do with her ballot designation or Shroeder's comical windmill-tilting against it, all of which happened back in March if memory serves...
