Andrew Do Enters Garden Grove Council Race

I heard today that Andrew Do, Chief of Staff for Orange County Supervisor Janet Nguyen, has pulled papers to run for Garden Grove City Council. There will be 2 seats up for grabs, one vacant seat and "appointed" Councilman Steve Jones' seat. I'm sure Andrew won't have any problems getting Supervisor Janet Nguyen's support.
This endorsement will likely position Andrew as the frontrunner for the open seat because of Janet's continued strong showings in Garden Grove in the last 3 elections. As many Red County readers know, she came in first in 2004 for council, carried the City in the Special Supervisorial election, and beat her opponent in her re-election (even with her opponent's Garden Grove Councilmember ballot designation).
Andrew is a former prosecutor, having spent 8 years with the Orange County District Attorney's. He has served in many units within the DA's Office, prosecuting violent criminals to sex offenders as Orange County's Sexual Violent Predator DDA. Andrew grew up in Garden Grove and attended Jordan Jr. High and Bolsa Grande High School. He later attended UC Davis where he received his BA in Economics and his law degree at UC Hastings. He has taught Law Enforcement and Criminal Law classes at Cal State Fullerton and has been published in the University of San Francisco Maritime Law Journal.
Andrew's running for City Council is a positive development for the residents of Garden Grove. He will be an asset to the citizens and the City by serving on the Council and bringing with him leadership skills, extensive breadth of experience and a strong grasp of policy issues. With his work as a Chief of Staff to a member of the Board of Supervisors, Andrew has the unique knowledge and experience to represent Garden Grove well on fiscal and municipal policy issues facing the City in these difficult economic times.
With his experience and relationships, he should not have any trouble raising a campaign warchest. He has also retained veteran consultant, Dave Gilliard, who as we all know recently won all of his races in Orange County from Mimi Walters for Senate, Diane Harkey for Assembly, Jeff Miller for Assembly, and Supervisor Janet Nguyen last month. It is really rare to see Gilliard taking on a council candidate so this move tells us that Gilliard is confident that Andrew will be the next Councilman.
Having grown up in Garden Grove, having key endorsements and retaining one of the best campaign consultants in California surely positions Andrew as a strong candidate.
As a long time resident of Garden Grove, I wish him good luck.

Andrew Do vs. Trung Nguyen...I mean Janet vs Van. Here we go again.
Trung has advantage on this race. Andrew Do is not well known in GG Viet community.
There are two seats. Both Andew and Trung can try to get one of the seats unlike the Supervisor's election. So they don't need to hit each other.
I suggest they both run their own campaigns and not make it into the Andrew vs Trung or even Janet vs. Van.
We can use more republicans in the area so lets not try to knock each other.
Good luck to both candidates!
Boys and girls,
There's plenty of room for everyone on the GG City Council. Andrew Do is a newbie and he will need to work with everyone if he even has a chance to get elected. If he plays the divisive political card, Andrew will get slaughtered.
LOL! Andrew not known in the viet community. Andrew has been all over the Viet Community and everyone knows him... He campaigned hard and was on the Radiot walked precincts etc. Good Luck Mr. Do you have my support and will tell all my family members to vote for you. I will contact your campaign to put a sign in my yard.
I think Dina edged Janet in GG Viet vote tally in last election and Do won't get a free ride in this race. Tough road for unknown Do!
Andrew is less well known compare to Trung Nguyen. Trung Nguyen is well known in the Viet community for his photoshop work from last election.
Anrew Do is only known for his public and private service to Janet in Viet community. Many Viets make mistakes as to his true identity
Trung Nguyen has many followers because he is one the most respected Viet elected official in OC.
Andrew Do "the brain" appears to have vast amount experiences of running the county affairs and people are questioning why he doesn't pull the paper for Supervisorial seat.
Many Viets falsely(?) believe he is the Supervisor today.
