Westminster Mayor's Ball - Rose Center Benefit

Posted by: Lady Fingers | 06/21/2008 11:21 PM

We are all so intense on the Red County Blog with who's saying what about who and why that it is almost unnoticed when a room gathers as many notables and elected officials in support of a theater.  They all shake hands and are kind and generous with their comments to each other.  Who are these people?  They are State Senators, Assemblymen, County Supervisors, City Councilmen and of course the Mayor... from "both sides of the aisle" spending money on tickets for drawings of donated gifts that ranged from Angel's Baseball packages to ladies watches.  But the room emitted a bit of electricity when certain electeds passed each other...

take for instance a conversation that Kermit Marsh was having with Truong Diep...a couple of feet away the Rose Center Foundation President (Foundation that supports the Rose Center Theater) Vivian Kirkpatrick-Pilger was met by Janet Nguyen and they stopped to share a few words...that seemed to rev up the amps and Truong Diep quickly left the table and made for the door.  Neither Janet or Vivian were addressing him but it seemed he felt uncomfortable enough to make a quick escape.  Perhaps after the recent primary when he worked so hard for the Supervisor's opposing candidate, he felt mildly uncomfortable?  Or perhaps he just had another table to visit...

After the presentation of Colors (Flags), the Mayor's Welcome, and the Invocation given by Charlie Wilkins, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the singing of "God Bless America" by Shirl Stewart (former Rose Center Board member) Mayor  Margie Rice then introduced the elected officials.  An impressive array..Tom Harman, Lou Correa, Jim Silva from the state level and then the local level - 1st District Supervisor Janet Nguyen -recently winning the primary with an impressive margin.  The Westminster City Council were all present, Frank Fry, Kermit Marsh, Andy Quach and Tri Ta.  School board member Sergio Contreras, along with the Midway City Sanitary District Directors Joy Neugebauer, Grace Epperson, Al Krippner and Truong Diep were in attendance.  Of course Mayor Rice is on the MC Sanitary District as well.

The Rose Center Board of Directors including the President, Vivian Kirkpatrick-Pilger, Phyllis LaPell, Eva Corbett, Erwin Vysma, Tammy Tran, Crystal Wadsworth, Johanna Susi and alternate to the Mayor on the Board; Frank Fry.

Members of the City staff were in heavy support with the lovely Vickie Morgan (Code Enforcement Officer) modeling some of the Jewelry for bid.  The Westminster Police Officers Association with Dan Schoonmaker and of course Police Chief Andy Hall were all there to show their support of the theater.

Members from several committees and commissions were present for the show of support as well.  But the  Sponsors contributing $10,000, $5,000; $3,000 and $1,000 were the real jewels in the crown of the evening that brought in the bulk of the cash.

Westminster really comes together as a city, the city staff were thanked on the program for donating money to sponsor the "Swing Cats Band" which drew couples of all ages to the dance floor.  (City Manager Ray Silver, City Attorney Dick Jones, Police Chief Andy Hall, Community Services Director Greg Johnson, Finance Director Paul Espoinoza and City Clerk, Marian Conteras all sponsored the band).

Handling the hosting job was B. J. Savage, his jocular skills somewhat akin to a host of Saturday Night Live, with a lively sense of humor and a good amount of schmoozing throughout the evening as he moved the events along with the skill of Letterman or Leno.

Kermit Marsh, by far the big winner of the night on the prize drawings..why? because he practically bought out all the tickets...  His way of showing his support of the Rose Center Theater...he literally had to load his prizes on a rack and wheel them to his car to take them home.  The future Judge Marsh (as citizens are beginning to refer to him...) certainly put his money where his mouth is and forked it over for the biggest fund raiser of the year for the Rose Center.

All in all, a good community evening had by all, with politics wandering around in the background, never fully at rest

It may just be a coincidence about Truong Diep making his exit. Maybe Marsh just said something unpleasant just then. Like, "I will be running for reelection to the council this November" for example....

Bolsavik,

There is no communist conspiracy here. You should go play in your own stupid blog and sand box. You sounded and looked dumb. And no, I am not Truong Diep, nor Kermit Marsh.

Good grief Charlie Bolsawhat! Lots of people cross blog on Red County and Bolsavik's site. Bolsavik has some very interesting information on his site that we can't get anywhere else. His blog is pretty valuable to our blogging community. Don't try to insert a communist theory, he didn't say anything about that, YOU DID. And he didn't look dumb. Those that know about Truong Diep know that he is lusting after a seat on the Westminster City Council so much so that he is even working for Marsh's election as a judge so it frees up a seat on the council. He hangs out with Tri Ta and with Andy Quach after city council meetings (and a lot of other times) as they are all part of the Van Trannie group.

You on the other hand, sound pretty misinformed. You should read more blogs rather than prematurely conjecturing on them.

This has to be the dumbest post to ever be posted on the OCBLog. Whoever made the decision to give Ladyfingers posting privileges on the OCBlog needs to reconsider their decision.

Your articles always seemed ostensibly bias and partial. Everyone that is a patron to this blog knows who your real boss and sole goddess is. So when you tacitly attacked the Trannies and throw your assumptions into your articles, it only denigrates your character as a purported good and impartial journalist of this blog. Every bloggers with the average intelligent know that your sole purpose of writing any articles on this blog is no more than to ameliorate your goddess' political image, agenda and persona, and to derogate that of the Trannies.

I agreed with the 8:41pm comment. I question why the editor of this blog - mostly a blog that is well-respected for its frontline news and impartiality - would permit an oblique writer, like yourself, to post articles that favored a group’s political agenda and incriminate another.

So before you assault other bloggers’ comment for “premature conjectures,” maybe you should practice what you preached and not make such conjectures in your articles about the Trannies. Of course, every bloggers on this site, mostly myself, welcome you posting any evidences you might have to espouse your conjectures and assumptions against the Trannies, and their political motives. But until then, please keep your presuppositions to yourself.

BTW: Your writing is soooo dull and lack character, so please do us a favor and don’t post any more articles. Thanks!

this does seem to be the dumbest post ever. obviously lady fingers has some kind of grudge against truong diep. Why focus so much on him? Why even bring up the topic about him leaving the event when Vivian and Janet were talking? Do you really have to write a pointless article about the Westminster Ball in an attempt to subtly sour Truong Diep's name? pretty pathetic...

It's okay - I can take the heat. But to quote another blogger, actually I think it was Jubal, if you think this blog is not biased then you haven't been reading it long enough. Almost every blog or article on here has a bias one way or another.

I think you are going a bit "overboard", even for you 11:49 AM 6/23.

It was a slow weekend on the blog, so there was no reason not to post something about an event where so many elected officials showed up to do something other than "politic" - where people from "both sides of the aisle" were somewhere for a common purpose. It was nice.

I think if you find this writing so boring you should take a pass on all Lady Finger articles from now on, just read something else, why torture yourself?

Subtley sour Truong Diep's name? you think because he left the room that sours his name? And where in this post was there a "derogate" of the Trannies? You inject too much.

Lady Fingers:
“And where in this post was there a "derogate" of the Trannies? You inject too much.” First of all, everybody knows that Truong Diep is a “Trannies.” Next, I suppose your insinuation of Truong Diep surreptitiously leaving the Westminster Mayor’s Ball (“as if he was a coward”) and embarrassed of his endeavors in the BOS election were in no way disparaging and belittling of his character. Of course, as a journalist of this blog, you chose your words carefully and for that reason I called it a “tacit attack,” and not a blatant one.

Any bloggers that read your article could easily construe Troung Diep as a being “afraid or scared” of facing Janet at this Ball, which would translate to the Trannies being afraid of facing Janet after the BOS election at these types of events. Of course, that is entirely untrue. So let me ask you Lady Fingers, is that derogation of the Trannies???

As for your latter comment, I don’t feel I inject too much at all. I only inject what suffices to express myself in response to your article.

As for your comment about articles on this blog being bias in one way or another, I have seen many, and surely much more, articles written on this blog that are not bias and delineate the news as it is, than those that are partial like yours. Those are the types of articles that get the bloggers’ respects - much more than ones like yours. It’s okay for bloggers’ comments to be bias because it is their opinions, but for a journalist of the blog to be bias, that’s a different story. Maybe the RedCounty administration should make or amend it rules and forbid articles that promulgate partiality and obliqueness if it wants to be seen as a professional and respectable blog website.

If they did that, there would be a lot fewer blogs posted here. And I might mention that another "journalist" author on this site has posted many entries that have been partial to his/her "side" of things, but I have not seen you taking that person to task.

I did not "insinuate that Truong Diep surreptitiously left the Westminster Mayor’s Ball “as if he was a coward” and was embarrassed of his endeavors in the BOS election" and no, I was not disparaging and belittling of his character. You may read what you will into it, as you apparently have. I simply stated the facts, and that perhaps he felt uncomfortable. You see there was more going on between Truong and Janet that I even knew Saturday night. I have since found out other things that I won't repeat here. That he left could have also been attributed to him wanted to visit another table, as I said...but again you read what you want into it....

And no, I don't need to, as you state, make any assertions to generate "derogation" of the Trannies. I think they have done enough damage to themselves.

And further, you accuse me of having a "goddess"? get real. And, my "boss" is ME. You really are going overboard.
