Vote-By-Mail Voters Will Dominate Election

I don't think there's any doubt vote-by-mail (VBM) voters will dominate today's primary election.
According to the ROV website, 195,391 VBM ballots had been returned as of today -- which is just under 36% of the total VBM ballot sent out.
I spoke with OC Registrar of Voters Neal Kelley earlier this evening. He expects approximately 45% turnout among VBM voters when all is said and done -- many of them returned at polling places today (that's what I did).
At the time we spoke (about 5:00 p.m.) Kelley had visited about 25 polling stations, and said that generally speaking, the ratio of VBMs being turned in versus plain old Election Day voters was about 2 to 1.
A 3:00 p.m. sample of 10 polling sites showed about a 4% turn-out of Election Day voters.
In other words, the main battle in OC's contested elections is over to a large extent, probably decided during the already over. The bulk of VBMs were returned after Memorial Day -- which spells trouble for Neil Blais who was massively out-mailed in AD71 during that period. It's also bad news for Harry Sidhu, who was similarly out-mailed in that period.
It's better news for Larry Dick in AD60, since he was more competitive with Curt Hagman during that period.
We'll find out for sure in about an hour.

Well the VBM's are sure looking good for Janet Nguyen!! Of course we have to wait until all the votes are counted, but if Janet wins by this much of a margin - will you now take the hint Van Tran? To preserve your political legacy doesn't mean packing seats with your puppets - but with worthy candidates that can do a good job even if you don't agree with everything they do or say.
Take credit for helping Janet when she was young, turning her into a good candidate, and a worthy opponent of anyone you set against her.
She's got intestinal fortitude and I hope we don't have to go through another few months of bickering and dirty politics for a run-off election between Janet and someone else.
Congratulations on the VBM's!!! Great balls of fire it's a wonderful night so far!!!
