Primary Night: First Round Of VBMs: Senators-Elect Mimi Walters and Bob Huff
Posted by: Jubal | 06/03/2008 8:08 PM
I'll have more detail results in a minute -- although you can see for yourself here -- but the early round of VBMs indicate:
SD33: Mimi Walters is blowing harry Sidhu out of the water by about 50 points. No way Harry can make that up. Congratulations too Senator-elect Mimi Walters.
SD29: Bob Huff is destroying his Assembly colleague Dennis Mountjoy by the same margin.
AD71: It's neck-and-neck between Miller and Blais. Miller is up by 200 votes - 51% to 49%. Looks like Neil's negative mail against Miller did some damage.
AD60: Curt Hagman is leading Larry Dick by 13 points. Almost in the bag for Hagman.
1st Supe District: Janet Nguyen has 57.2% to Dina Nguyen's 27.8% and Hoa Van Tran's 15%. Strong showing by janet. Ii can't say she's definitely avoided a run-off, but it looks good for her.
Judge Races:

Turnout: A dismal 11.1%
Ouch.

2008 Elections

Miller is killing Neil....more like 2000 votes!
Barlite sends the following message to Harry Sidhu:
Now that your political career is going down in flames, let's reflect on what you accomplished for yourself and for your party.
1) You wasted a boatload of your money and your supporter's money while causing the major expenditure of Republican funds which could have been used for a much better purpose than in defeating your ill-considered candidacy.
2) You added nothing to positive political discourse while degrading the Republican image of civility. There is simply no argument that you started the ugly campaign with your doctored images of Mimi Walters as a "floozie on the take" while deliberately distorting her voting record. Then, you cried "foul" when given a dose of your own medicine.
3) You put together a remarkable "losers list" of political "has beens"; disaffected council members; obscure organizations; panderers to Anaheim's largesse; and others irrelevant to the 33rd Senate District. The unions and suppliers will be looking for payback and your constituents will be watching to see that they don't get it.
4) You dragged El Pollo Loco into the fray degrading their image which could be viewed as a breach of your prerogatives as a franchisee.
5) Your bush league campaign demonstrated that you lack the competence and sophistication to ever be a player on the political scene. Had you heeded the party leadership they might well have helped you get a start at the Assembly level, but you were a pathetic victim of your own inflated ego and wouldn't liste.
6) Then you sought "victim" status from imagined attacks on your ethnicity. A bumbling fool, whatever his striles, is but a fool.
7) You have rightfully ended up a party pariah.
WAS IT WORTH IT, HARRY ??
It's difficult to add to Anonymous's post. All Harry did was cause well over $2 million in Republican financial support to be effectively wasted in a Don Quixote-like tilt at the windmill that was Mimi Walters. Now that money cannot be regained by the GOP and could cause losses that can be ill-afforded in ADs 78 (Horton), 80 (Garcia), and possibly even 15 (Houston). In a strong Democrat year, those three seats are VERY vulnerable.
Well Harry, we'll see how much your ego ends up costing the Assembly Republican Caucus contingent in November.
Way to go Harry!
Instead of Orange County losing two Assembly seats, we would have probably only lost one seat. Sidhu could have given Hagman a run for his money and could have had Orange County behind him.
This was a bad decision.
Damn STRAIGHT it was WORTH it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GEt over all that stuff, it's over alREADY!!
...in his press release for his shredding press conference. His race will have ramifications beyond November 2008. The money spent on this race could have been spent on Strickland in the 19th SD against Hannah Beth-Jackson and on Aghazarian in the 5th SD against Lois Wolk. If we lose McClintock's State Senate seat, we're only one vote (Abel Maldonado!) away from a 2/3rds Democrat majority. Yikes!
Thanks Harry!
